JonShar Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 I'm signed up with my bank where they send me an email every morning with my checking account balance. Checked it yesterday morning and it was about $8,000 lower than it should have been. Got online and pulled up my account, there were 4 checks written for $7,300 that had cleared - not written by me of course. Checked my checkbook to see if those checks were missing, they're not. Someone had gone to the trouble of getting checks printed with my name and bank account information on them, and the signature is close enough to mine to indicate that it's someone who has seen it before and spent time copying it. Spent 3 hours at the bank yesterday with the fraud division, will be filing a police report today. Scary stuff though, if I hadn't have checked that email yesterday who knows when I would have noticed and how many checks would have cleared. Anyone else dealt with this before?
