moptop46 Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 I love the man, and i am not knocking his play. But maybe as we changed the captaincy from Sammi to Gerrard, is it not time to consider replacing him as captain? He seems so down these days, and it is definately effecting his play.Maybe a relief of the burden to the likes of Carragher, who would surely encourage and bully the players more than Gerrard is now, is what is called for.
owenthomas Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 replace Gerrard as captain? oh my God.. oh my fkin God..

richt71 Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 Come on its only a thought!Just thinking it might help him. What as we sell him??
_00_deathscar Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 He needs to be out on the right...that's all.
mattster Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 (edited) What an awful suggestion. Steven Gerrard embraces the armband and has every quality you'd want in a captain. Edited September 30, 2006 by mattster
Cooldude Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 Completely unrelated to the actual topic: Gerrard is as out of form as he's been for a long time
Guest Jack Bauer Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 I'm worried about Gerrard in the middle, I think he is impressionable and now thinks he is Lampard.
Rimbeux Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 I'm worried about Gerrard in the middle, I think he is impressionable and now thinks he is Lampard. I think he simply hasn't played there enough recently. I looked at him playing with Lampard, and it was no issue with his discipline, he actually did his job holding, and breaking up play, just not the usual Gerrard. It's been a good while since he played a number of games in central midfield as the more attacking player, and a game here or there is not enough to hang a man for. The issue is can he get time there, and/or should he be allowed to concentrate on one position
Ombudsam Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 steven was captain last season and the season before that
Whitey85 Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 Steven Gerrard is our best player by a distance. If i was him and was being played out wide on the left id be looking pretty pissed off aswell.
Guest Cardie Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 This Gerrard looks down and unhappy and miserable b******s does my head in. Get the f*** on with it.

Chili Palmer Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 What an awful suggestion. Steven Gerrard embraces the armband and has every quality you'd want in a captain. He may embrace the armband, who wouldn't ,but IMO he does not have every quality you'd want in a captain. When he is on form and the team are playing well he looks the part, but when he is suffering with his form he goes into his shell, leading by an example is good when you are playing well but when the team is struggling you need a bit more from your captain.
owenthomas Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 llike when you're 3-0 down in the European Cup Final and you cover about 3 different positions to help out as well as scoring one and earning a penalty for another? or when there's minutes left in an FA Cup Final and you're dead on your feet but manage to pull one of the greatest goals in FA Cup history out of your locker.. apart from the obvious above there are countless other occasions the boy's done more than drag the team through.. why not direct some of this bulls*** towards some other players who should be standing up and being counted and maybe helping the lad out on the field? we go on about one man not making the team when it suits us but can't say likewise when he has a poor spell (by his standards?).. some of you today have really let yourselves down.. i'm not exactly having a fkin great day either but there's been virtually no rational posts at all so far - just knee-jerking and over-reactions.. c'mon lads for f*** sake..

Thats what I said! when he is playing well, i.e european cup final, fa cup final, etc, he leads the team well. its when he is struggling with his own form he goes into his shell and worries about himself too much, imo a captain must be able to see the bigger picture and regardless of the way he is playing himself should still be big enough to act a captains role, i.e encourage players, bollick them out, whatever it takes. I am not saying take the captains armband off him, I was just responding to a post that said he had all the qualities a captain needs, I simply don't think he does yet. BTW I don't see a problem with the guy that started this topic, its about Liverpools captain and he raised it on a Liverpool forum, he didn't do it in an abusive way, he just opened a discussion. If people don't want to join in on this specific topic then don't.
Chili Palmer Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 how about rotating captains ffs, keep that idea quiet, Rafa hasn't thought of that one yet...
lawrie Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 How about rotating fans stuff rotation, lets give 'em a free transfer outta here
berdoing Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 They're allowed their opinion. Someone said earlier this week that "Gerrard never has three bad games in a row" Well, that's two...
tomasjj Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 This Gerrard looks down and unhappy and miserable b******s does my head in. Get the f*** on with it. Yep.Get working Gerrard. In every game.Stop sulking and get on with it.
