I had a chat with Randy Lerner last night

I just finished a round of golf with my freind who is a judge, and he had to call Randy to meet him for dinner. My friend the judge put me on with him and we chatted for about 5-10 minutes and worked out when we would be meeting for dinner.

 

I have to say that I really envy Villa. He seems like a lovely guy, plus he's absolutely loaded. I joked with him about his staged footage of him drinking the Guinness outside the pub and he said that it wasn't at all. He just loves Guinness and was dying to have one after a long day of negotiations. He is obviously very intelligent, but he is such a laid back guy to talk to, and totally down to earth.

 

I'll be having dinner with him in a few weeks and I'll give you a fuller report then.

By all accounts Lerner is an absolutely ideal owner NYR. I've read a bit about the man, and apparently the other NFL owners hate him.

 

The reason for this is the NFL gates are shared, and Lerner refuses to put the Cleveland ticket prices up in line with the others because he doesn't want to price the average fan out of being able to attend.

 

Instant respect from me for that - sounds like he would have fitted in at Anfield very nicely in all honesty, wonder why he wasn't interested in us. Ask him for us will you if you can mate?

I think personally that when he played golf with Bill Clinton NYR body-boarded right past Figaro, who was left floundering and struggling to stay above water alongside The Dutch Master, bottle of Cruzcampo in hand...
