Anthony Le Tallec claims he does not want to return to Liverpool.

 

The young Frenchman is currently on loan at Sochaux from Liverpool after failing to establish himself under Rafa Benitez.

 

Le Tallec spent the whole of last season on loan at Sunderland and the season before that he had a six-month spell at St Etienne as he struggled to make an impact at Anfield.

 

The French Under-21 international does not believe he has been given a fair chance under Benitez and is determined to get his career back on track at Sochaux.

 

"Stability is the most important thing for me," Le Tallec told skysports.com.

 

"I am fed up with being loaned all the time.

 

"When you are being loaned, you can't invest yourself.

 

"Coming back to Liverpool for pre-season training every year and then leaving is not a nice situation.

 

"My contract with Sochaux includes an option for a permanent move.

 

"So I hope I will stay next season, and I will do everything for it.

 

"It depends on my performances and on the staff."

 

The skilful forward admits he enjoyed his spell at Sunderland even though they suffered relegation and he insists he has no regrets over his time at Liverpool

 

"Playing for Sunderland has definitely been a superb experience," added Le Tallec

 

"The fans have been great in spite of the poor results.

 

"The atmosphere within the squad was fantastic.

 

"And I have discovered the real English culture.

During the world cup that despite all the french players we had signed, the fact that there was not a single Liverpool player in the French team was quite damning.

 

I know Cisse would probably had played barring injury, and Diarra was sort of ours at one point, but you look at the French players we didn't sign but other English clubs did: Henry, Gallas etc and you wonder how we could have signed so many and not got a decent one that succeeded here.

 

You look at Spain and we have two key players in the squad. (and Pepe)

Nowhere near good enough , him or his cousin (to a lesser extent). Le Gems have both been a massive failure imo. Over hyped before and after they arrived with neither having more than a few good games for us. (I know some were important games so dont have a go)

He's obviously an a***, but we still should have given them both more games when they first arrived. That loaning them out for a full season straight away was pointless.

It does appear that the quotes are replies to questions put to him and therefore the contest is difficult to ascertain. The fact is that Le Tallec has not realised his potential despite being given opportunities which a lot of young players would be extremely pleased with. It is amusing to see his appraisal of Houllier and Domenach given the latter's criticism of Houllier for bringing the two to Liverpool too early when they were unlikely to play in many games.

 

His problem is more his lack of application and effort to make the most of the skill he was blessed with. His cousin was unfortunate not to get a run of games in the team but achieved far more with no obvious sign of the frustration that inevitably arises from being a perennial sub/reserve team player.

 

Pongolle will be remembered for his decisive contributions in games on the path to both the European Cup in 2005 and the FA Cup last season. Le Tallec's contribution is already fast disappearing into the ether!

I think Le Tallec has the talent to pop up at a big club later in his career and do well. He certainly does not have the right 'mentality' at this point in his life, so he won't be in Rafa's plans.
