He's had a quieter start than I expected. I thought he would have had 2/3 goals already. He seems to be trying a little too hard at times. I think his work rate has been first class and he is adopting to a different role he played at BRFC. One were he is required to help out more. Not sure what he was doing Saturday when he missed Gerrard's ball and held is head in his hands as Gonzalez slotted home the rebound. I think once he gets a goal and he will go on a scoring streak.

Maybe it's because he is in fact not very good?

You don't think that surely?

I think he has been doing the right things. Very unlucky in front of goal and soon enough those misses will turn into goals. Playing well imo.

Remember someone on here talking about Bellamy usually being a slow starter at all his clubs and that things didn't really click at Blackburn until about 8/9 games into the season.

Give him time. Think he'll get at least double figures this season.

He had to do that, it was hilarious.

I don't think that at all.

Look, dont confuse me Im on the vino. :drink: You dont think hes bad, or you dont think (what I said) that hes playing well?

i am still unsure of his attitude. His quality as a player is assured, but his attitude lets him down.

Now Gonzales on the other hand, that finish, and the one in his first game, were so cool they were pure cold. the man's a killer.

I hate players who put their heads in their hands when the ball is still in play.

academic question i think - did we have the extra money for johnson and the other deals we had planned?

bellamy will come good.

I think Bellamy will be fine. He's getting closer and closer to scoring in the prem for us, just like Kuyt did before getting his first. He's getting into positions to score through clever movement, and has been denied by some good saves and the woodwork. Now that Kuyt has started scoring it takes a bit of the pressure off as well.

i think bellamy over johnson for me, he's more proven at the top level.

I don't think johnson has the intelligence to be a liverpool player under rafa. Plus I only like Bald people when they are scottish.

Starting to really get annoyed by Johnson now. If he wins a penno for Everton at Anfield with that preposterous dive he spent all last season doing I think I'll explode.

As far as I remember Bellamy has always been a streaky goalscorer. He can go quite a few games without a goal then score 10 in 10 games.

He's working his backside off - the goals will come I'm sure. Its very clear that he's absolutely desperate to score, which although it can come across as selfish at times, I personally love to see from strikers.

He's being overshadowed a little by the absolutely sensational start Kuyt has made. I hope Bellamy isn't forgotten by the fans though in favour of their new hero (Kuyt's attitude will always make him the most popular), as the little fella has the qualities to be top class if he can keep the attitude right. Its important everyone stays right behind him - even if he goes another 10 games without scoring and Kuyt is banging them in...

At times like this tis always worthwhile pulling out an old Shanks (or was it Sir Bob?) quote:

"He is missing chances, but he is getting in the right positions to do so".

i have to say that bellamy has gotten off quite easy with that miss. misses a sitter, the ball is live, he puts his heads in his hands and misses the chance to be a part of the play.

i wonder just what was expected of bellamy by some when he came here. i think we've gotten exactly as advertised. work rate, works channels well, tenacious, gets under other teams skins, will chip in with some goals. i'm sure he'll hit his patch where he scores a bunch, but i don't think he was ever a 20 goal scorer. if he get 15 for us this season in about 45 games i'll be happy. kuyt is the true goal scorer on the team and i think that's what rafa always had planned.

Is spot on you lazy c*** ;)

i'm sure you'd expect nothing less my friend.................

i would like to add though (as i've just got a second wind!) that if Bellamy continues to work as hard as he has been he will get his rewards and the fans will continue to appreciate his contribution and they'll show it too, no matter how long any 'drought' goes on..

Agree with all of that. He's a royal pain in the back-side to play against, and nearly every defender I've heard quoted agrees. We knew what we were getting and I'm sure Rafa did. Some people are obsessed by this 20+goals or bust stuff - it's bollucks. There's 40+ goals in Kuyt, Bellamy, Crouch and Fowler if they get the service. If I was Rafa I would just be trying to coach his runs a bit more - although he's been unlucky with a few offsides, which might also affect his judgement short-term. Got to remember he's probably not used to the service from players like Gerrard, Kuyt and Alonso....

Or get Kuyt to do it, he ran the line for his goal on Saturday perfectly to be onside for Luis pass.

We proved we can be patient last year with Crouch and I think bellamy will be fine and we have a midfield who can chip in with a few goals to.
