Chewie Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 so who hasn't been impressed eh with Kuyt...thought I'ld get the ball rolling on just what it is about him that has the potential to be sooooooo goooooooooooooooooooddddddddddddddddd... 1. at last a player who comes and lives up to all expectations - I just love that...we've been after this guy for so long and at last he's here and we can all see why... 2. the way he really blasts the ball - I know it probably cost a goal against the chavs but I just live the way he simply powers the ball towards the net (people have made comparisons with M Hughes - a player I hated because of his jersey but admired becasue of the way he played...) 3. His workrate....he is so fit and just works so hard for the team 4. The way all of the above has raised the bar for other strikers....no-one wants to look lazy and with a strike partner who is less inspiring than Kuyt you could hide and not look off your game....none of our strikers will be able to hide when playing with Kuyt 5. His link play - its so much more impressive than what I expected...a lot was made of his versatility on the right and I was fearful we were signing another striker who played in a wide position...but all that time doing other things for the team has made him so 'game-aware'. Rafa talked recently of game intelligence and I think he's got it and will get better at it.... 6. His willingness to be a real and mving target for players like Garcia, Gerrard, Alonso etc who have the ability to play a killer ball....remember once hearing Craig Johnston talking about the brilliance of King Kenny and how as amazing as the King was his genius needed willing runners to make the moves into places that only he could play the ball....Kuyt makes those runs - into danger areas... 7. The way he slid in for that goal against Newcastle - it was a real hungry finish.... anyway - I know I'll get no prizes for saying this guy is the real deal but hey...we waited all summer for him to come and it just feels sooo good that he has lived up to expectations.... feel free to keep the ball rolling as I am sure I've missed other great things about the guy since his arrival.... YNWA Chewie
hagi_complex Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 So far, so good for Dirk. The key thing for me is that he seems to have the mental toughness and attitude, as well as the technical and physical attributes, to make a name for himself in England. So many talented players (both for us and other teams) haven fallen down on this issue. I'm glad that Rafa is giving him games (an immediate antidote to Cheyrou Syndrome) and I've no doubt that he'll get better for us. A good buy and two fingers up to every Manc f*ck that gave me stick for us buying him after the World Cup.
deelavo Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 His goal celebrations. He just loves scoring.
Guest JimmyJames Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 His goal celebrations. He just loves scoring. I'll second that.
Paul Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 I love the way his gold locks flow in the wind......er, he has a good touch for a big man.
hagi_complex Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 He might look like the b*****d offspring of Colin Hendry and Ian Dowie, but the man has balls and can play. s*** singer, mind.
Johnny Red Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 He looks like a young Boris Becker with long hair.
Big G Superhero Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 He looks like a young Boris Becker with long hair. And an extra chromosome... Sorry

fyds Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 I'm just glad that for all the times I saw him play for Utrecht and Feyenoord, and all the times I built him up as the real deal on this forum so far he's lived up to billing! Leef lang de albino katwijker!
Guest Kev Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 Did anyone notice his reaction to the Gonzalez goal and celebrations ? Whilst everyone ran to the corner to celebrate Bellamy stood in the 6-yard box looking at the floor. Kuyt noticed this and ran back towards him, wrapped his arms around Bellamy's neck and dragged him along to join in. There is nothing about Kuyt that you cannot love - in a non gay way.

Leef lang de albino katwijker! Fecker still owes me a hamster though
Magic8Ball Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 we've waited for a player like Kuyt for years - he has a bit of the Shearer in him, the Mark Hughes AND the Berkamp he's absolutely ideal for us one thing that I'm still trying to work out though, now we have a player capable of playing up front along, we play 442 ..... someone please explain this to me ta
Cooldude Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 one thing that I'm still trying to work out though, now we have a player capable of playing up front along, we play 442 ..... someone please explain this to me ta Hmmm, maybe coz we're a far better team when playing two strikers?
Guest Ant Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 Reasos to love kuyt... He is a Liverpool player :s
Magic8Ball Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 Hmmm, maybe coz we're a far better team when playing two strikers? I'm not quite so sure, we are more attacking but we really look unbalanced on the right and when Gerrard plays LM we look worse
James D Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 mark hughes, kevin keegan and princess diana.... What, tunnel vision?
