LFC Montana Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 So, now that Kuyt has got his first goal and Benitez seems to have settled on Bellamy and the Dutchman for his first choice front two, how many games do you expect Fowler to get this season? Although I still think that Fowler has the best vision of the front 4 it was noticable that he looked completely f***ed when needing to play a higher tempo pressing game when we were chasing the game at the Blueschite.... Benitez likes his grafters up front but also likes to change things up for particular opposition. What type of opposition teams do you think will suit Robbie's game?
Bootle Buck Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 I would hope Rafa can give Robbie some time otherwise I can't see the point in keeping him this season. Rafa said himself he needs games and to work on his fitness. Last night he could have come on for Kuyt or Bellamy and got a 20 minute run out. Unless we get an injury I can't see him playing much. I also think Crouch will be very dissapointed. He has scored a few goals alraedy, was on fire for England and now seems to have fallen behind Kuyt and Bellamy.

I think over a season Crouch Bellamy and Kuyt will all plaay about the same as each other
anfield Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Crouch has been prolific for England but not for us so far. I hope his success at the national level does not go to his head because I think he will be our third choice striker
fred Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 I expect Fowler and Crouch to start against Spurs on Saturday.
surf Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 I dont like the Fowler - Crouch partnership, not enough movement. One of Fowler&Crouch with one of Kuyt&Bellamy would make sense to me as a combination. An in-the-box striker with more mobile, creative striker.
Barnes' left foot Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 I expect Fowler and Crouch to start against Spurs on Saturday. I hope not.

Suspensions, injury & knackerdness will play a part
bazz Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 I expect Fowler and Crouch to start against Spurs on Saturday. I think so too............but I fecking hope not. I just want Bellamy and Kuyt to get a run of games together in order to build up some kind of partnership.
Cooldude Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Kuyt is super fit, he can easily start 90% of the games for the season So Bellamy and Crouch should be rotated to partner him most the time
Spike Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 League cup, and against the poorer teams in the league as evidenced by his selection at goodison.
MarkD Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 The next game I can see Robbie starting in is Bolton away - a niggly game and they are not over blessed with speed at the back. He has a good record against them too.

Fowler's best days are many years behind him and he just can't cut it at the highest level anymore Carling Cup or FA Cup against lower division teams is all he can hope for
Wardy Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 (edited) Jesus talk about fickle. Fowler still has a part to play, it might be largely from the bench but we're gonna need him in games where the opposition put ten men behind the ball and we need a moment of magic - I know who my money would be on scoring in that kind of situation. When Bellamy and Crouch look like they couldn't hit a cows a*** with a Tennis Raquet is when we're gonna need Fowler. He might not have the legs he once did but he's still the best finisher we've got and arguably ever have had. Edited September 21, 2006 by Wardy
badtodabone Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 but he's still the best finisher we've got and arguably ever have had. rubbish he was a great finisher and is still good but rush was the greatest finisher we ever had
fred milne Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 rush was the greatest finisher we ever hadWorthy of a topic in its own right?
Philby Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 It's not so much which games Robbie will start, the key thing here is which games will fowler come off the bench for. Robbie is no longer a 90-minute player. He can't give it all for 90 minutes but there's few more dangerous players you could call on for a big last 20 minutes when chances are floating around. He still has a role to play but won't start many games for us in the league imho
Guest lfc_owens Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 rubbish he was a great finisher and is still good but rush was the greatest finisher we ever had I think Owen was a better finisher
IgPig Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 (edited) I think Owen was a better finisher That's just madness. Sorry, but it is. Fowler's best days are many years behind him and he just can't cut it at the highest level anymore Carling Cup or FA Cup against lower division teams is all he can hope for Can't help yourself, can you? gkmacca Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Coming on in the second half could see him get several goals - Kuyt must be exhausting to defend against.
G Richards Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Rush is the best finisher I've ever seen for us. Robbie had a couple of Rush-like seasons, but sadly did not sustain it for the long haul. Robbie is still a great finisher though - better than Bellamy and Crouch, and I'll withold judgement until I've seen more of Kuyt. Robbie will feature in 20 or so games this season (all comps, not necessarily all starts, mind) and he will weigh in with a useful 10 goals or so.
hideNseek Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Rush is the greatest finisher in my time.
Guest Balddie Alan Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 This is a man we call GOD so why do u knock him, alright he is not in his prime and he was one of the best poachers in the game. i my self would like to see Robbie play about 20 games in all comps and he is one of the best strikers in the game.
