from being the new 'great hope' to a prize chump right now. Mind, I guess it's another example of over hyping, he had a good start to his managerial career at City, but once the dust settled, they've really struggled, last season and this one so far.

Out of the Carling Cup now as well.

I thought in the summer they made some really decent signings for not much dosh as well.

Ah well, never mind eh!

Crewe beat Wigan too - 2-0

I hope we get Crewe in the next round!

His days are numbered IMO. May well start looking for a new jod.

thought his summer signings, apart from didi hamann, were those of a naive manager really. he should have been in for john hartson rather than corradi, jimmy bullard rather than ousmane dabo. letting andy cole go was a mistake too.

not that i'm bothered really, i think pearce is a tool.

Andy Cole wanted out tho, and Bullard wanted to go back to London, which seemed to be the only reason he left Wigan anyway.

Dabo, Hamann, Isaksson all decent signings tho. Although he's now crocked! I reckoned City's lot of signings where pretty smart, and significantly better than some teams who spent s***loads more money.

But Stuart Pearce isn't a very good manager, so it seems it doesn't matter how good the signings are.

As Benitez said it's for decoration, the official explanation being:

Club Crest:

The new City badgeThe new crest looks rather like a military emblem of some sort. At the top are three stars, underneath is a golden eagle and imposed on that is the new club crest. The ship is still there, underneath that is MCFC and then three diagonal strikes (like the round badge in the early 70's?). At the bottom of the whole thing is a bit of latin, Superbia In Proelio which means Pride In Battle. Here is the official note on the reson for the change.

"Manchester City Football Club would like to announce that they have commissioned a new crest to replace the round badge that has only existed since 1974. The new club crest is based on elements from the original "Arms of the City of Manchester", the crest which is still used by Manchester City PLC today and worn on the team shirt for all Wembley occasions. It retains the original shield set against an eagle taken from the Badge of the City of Manchester, dating from 1957, also originally found on the City of Manchester Crest, on the ribbon flowing from the knight's helmet. Below the shield is the new club motto "Superbia In Proelio", a Latin phrase translating to "Pride in Battle". The three stars above the eagle constitute a design element that relate a more continental feel to the design.

Aye. Tactically naive and a 24 carat c**t with it.

Didn't he do similar when he took over from Frank Clarke at Forrest? A few good games and then once the motivational element wasn't new they sank reet down?

I couldn't understand the links with the England job. The debacle at Forest seems to have been overlooked and the praise he was getting was like it was for a first-time boss.

And the thing where he made a mess of the team selection, too many players or too few, always had him marked down as a prize pillock in my book. Until a certain someone did the same at a halftime teamtalk in a CL Final.

The guy ringing 606 saying Hamann is class but has lost a couple of yards of pace made me laugh.

Anny may know more but I figure he's the type of manager who just tries to get them pumped up, any tactics are an after-thought and the players know that. 13 defeats out of 16 is relegation form

To be fair to him that whole Forest thing was just a mess anyways. Nobody was going to keep them up.

Can't stand him, spends too much time acting as a ballboy rather than managing.

Any manager who spends £6 mil on Samaras deserves to get the sack.

is that the same samaras that scored twice today to give city a 2-0 win??

So, Manchester City can have 3 stars "just for the heck of it" above their club crest, but we're denied permission to wear the 5 times badge from UEFA in the Prem?

Strange...

Honestly, what's their problem and they don't allow us to wear that badge?Maybe because it just pisses the Mancs off?
