Agger yet again impressed, his composer on the ball for such a young lad is scary, i thought he was very good today

Xabi had a good second half,

kuyt was lively, but should have scored

thats all i can think of though

We can concentrate on the Champions League....FA Cup.....League Cup....Top 4....

Steve Finnan was utterly magnificent and remains the best crosser of a ball at the football club.

Agger is a terrific player.

Agree with that.

I also thought Alonso carried on from his substitute performance mid-week.

Only once they went down to 10 men. And then we weren't good enough for even a point.

Balls, we were the better team in the first half too. Course, why take facts into consideration when we just lost and we can bitch about everything under the sun because our own lives are s***.

Yep. Bossed it physically and his distribution was almost back to its best. Great ball for Kuyt when he hit the bar.

Warnock did OK as well. I'd keep him in for the next three or four.

Agger.

Only Pennant had a bad game in my view

We created plenty of chances

there are others, we should have won that by a couple goals and just out of luck at this moment and we're not taking the chances.

I think you're confusing fact and opinion. Your subjective opinion is that we were the better side. I disagree. Why the need for personal abuse?

Sums it up for me. The scorelines in the last two league games have in no way, shape or form reflected what we have deserved to get from those matches. Woodwork again today at a crucial time. Nobody has mentioned Gerrard either - thought he was very good today.

It is a horrible feeling, losing to those c**** always is, but some perspective please. They hardly looked streets ahead of us and our luck will change. Far, far too early to be writing us off for anything.

Oh, and good luck with that.

Where on earth was the personal abuse in that post?

There was a frustrated tone to it admittedly, but probably because your post was so glibly negative and failed to consider any of the positives from the game - which is, err, kind of like what this thread was meant to be about. Plenty of other threads in which to post your doom and gloom outlook, I'm sure - and if not, you obviously have the choice of opening one.

And opinion or not, I struggle to see how anyone can say they were the better side.

The defence. Played well as a unit today. Pity about the attackers.

There was me thinking you'd suggested I was bitching because my own life is s***. You obviously had someone else in mind.

The positive from the game is that if we play that well, we will beat most sides home or away this season.

We played the champions on their turf, and they didn't even achieve a 5 minute spell when they were on top.

I think we will have to play a hell of a lot better to get going in the league, there seems to be something missing at the minute.

One positive I will say is the Carra/Agger partnership has alot of promise, if we could get left back sorted then the defense is top class, I think that is why we played Stevie at left midfield today, because Rafa was worried about exposing Warnock. So by having 1 weak link at left back, our midfield suffers by moving Stevie which makes our attack suffer. so one worry spreads through the team. Maybe being unfair on Warnock there but I think the balance is not right.
