Just watched it. How sad is that one? Most of the time I just watch and laugh or smile remember the good times, and so do Bascombe, Bishop, etc. But this one was just somber all around. Everyone's body language saying "it was great, if only it had lasted". Evern Riise and Hyypia still seem down about it. Just a non-optimal situation for everyone, wasn't it?

But Newcastle it the greatest club in the world and Owen remembers his Dad telling him stories about Di Stefano playing for them when they won all those European Cups, and to be able to wear the same shirt for them now is such a dream come true....

Very sad. All his own doing though, he must be so gutted.

 

We couldn't even get him back at a reasonable price now either thanks to Newcastle.

Damn, he was brilliant at his best. He became too much of a goal hanger in his final two seasons at Liverpool which I didn't like. He could never score the sort of goals he did early in his career now, he's transformed as a player and not into a better one.

I think he would have flourished under Rafa...oh well, Owen's loss really.
