Falconhoof Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Had a good game I thought. Came up with some solid tackles, nothing wild or reckless. He seemed to have an edge about him, more confidence than previously.
Shirohana Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Yep. Did well, seemed a lot more mature in his play... Looking to build an attack whereas previously he'd try and clear asap. Little worried when he had cramp later on. Needs a couple of games under his belt.
DonRafa Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Had a good game I thought. Came up with some solid tackles, nothing wild or reckless. He seemed to have an edge about him, more confidence than previously. He's been Rafarised
billybunter Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 if only his distribution could improve as he is a great little fighter
Guest Sabre Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Always worried he will injure himself but he was good tonight. Composed on the ball, good energy and didn't dive in.
Swipe Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Perhaps the fact Rafa refused to include him in any deal for Neill has boosted his confidence. Don't think he'll ever be top class, but a much better bet at LB than the really very average Aurelio, IMO.
Guest Anders Honoré Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Our backline looked good tonight which was very comforting.
Guest Sabre Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Aurelio just doesn't have enough bite right now but I think he can adapt. He's got the technical ability and the intelligence - just needs to get stuck in.
americanscouser Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 he looked much more tactically aware this evening then last season. most times he was in good position, read the game well and cleaned up when need be. got in some good tackles and never looked stretched. it could be a one off, but i thought it was the only thing that was holding him back was the ability to play together as part of a very cohesive back 4
Ginu Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 Looking to build an attack whereas previously he'd try and clear asap. are you kidding? i was pulling my hair out at the number of times he hoofed the ball forward over the head of Kuyt... it was doing my head in
Guest AnfieldGrass Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 I think the lad just needs a decent run, I mean whats the longest string of games he's had in the first team? Bugger all. I think he's shown enough to be relied on more often and could just surprise some of us if given a long run. Didn't we have some doubts about Finnan for a while a few seasons back? You never know.
Coyler Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 Carra was guilty of too many hoofs imo, there were times the ball was given away when the easier option was to pass to Reina or control the ball.I'd be surprised if, after Saturday, Carra didn't take to the pitch last night with a mental standing order to himself to hoof everything remotely hoofable and keep it hoofed.
Case Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 Steve Warnock is as good as Wayne Bridge. Fact. Or opinion. You decide.
Bootle Buck Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 To be honest he was rarely put under pressure. Both teams were very cautious and unadventurous. He also had Aurelio in front of him who played fairly defensive too. Steve Warnock is as good as Wayne Bridge. Fact. Or opinion. You decide. Defensively they are equal. However, Bridge is pretty dangerous going forward.
Frosty Jack Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 Aurelio doesn't look particularly happy playing anywhere right now, he's going to need time to settle, but he's a solid option for LM at the moment regardless.
