Tosh Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 How long is it til he is penalised for handling outside his area when taking a goal kick (from hands)?
carrafan Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 He wont. His 'antics' are too close to call, the refs wont take the risk.
Ronnie Whelan Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 He could have easily injured himself when he took that ball over carra's head and came down on the top of his head. Something I do every weekend but thats when im drunk.
Guest Sabre Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 He kept a clean sheet and I thought he was in control out there.
Sir_Bob_Paisley Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Did f*** all wrong as far as I'm concerned
Dee Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 i know what you are saying re: stepping ever so slightly outside the box before kicking it...I'd say unless it's obviously outside the box i.e. a foot or two then refs/LMen will call it...but it's a motion from inside out whilst kicking.. I was concerned about him when he came down on his neck/head
Guest Anders Honoré Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 as clean sheets go, I've seen more convincing performances.
Bootle Buck Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 I always get the feeling he gets bored and has to have a moment or two of madness each game. He looked solid enough tonight.
fildo Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Did well tonight - thought the commentary tonight was atrocious - building him up for a fall! Did everything that was required tonight!
hideNseek Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Did his job and that's all you can ask.
Guest RedLegend Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 I always get the feeling he gets bored and has to have a moment or two of madness each game. He looked solid enough tonight. Johhny Giles and Liam Brady just said the same thing on RTE. They said if he's got nothing to do he tries to get himself involved in the game which he shouldn't do.
Bailo Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Johhny Giles and Liam Brady just said the same thing on RTE. They said if he's got nothing to do he tries to get himself involved in the game which he shouldn't do.Which is crazy. The opinion of Giles and Brady, that is. Can anyone remember him doing ANYTHING like that last season? Can anyone remember him doing ANYTHING like that this season?
Mike S Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Johhny Giles and Liam Brady just said the same thing on RTE. They said if he's got nothing to do he tries to get himself involved in the game which he shouldn't do.and it's b******s. he's had plenty of games where he's had nothing to do and hasn't tried do anything crazy
Guest Kev Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 He done well after Saturday, maybe shouldn't have come for that cross but that's a classic example of a player trying to hard. I said after Saturday he should be dropped, Rafa's proved me wrong.
stressederic Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Did well tonight, but those kick outs are getting mighty close

Gunga Din Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 (edited) i noticed this on saturday at woodison, i was right in line with edge of the 18 yard box and on a couple of occasions, he had the ball in his hands a good couple of feet outside the box. there is no need for it either. sooner or later he will get penalised for it. he isnt the only keeper to do it either. its the lino that will call it sooner or later, as the refs are usually 50 yards away and it would be an impossible decision for them to call Edited September 12, 2006 by big wayne
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 pretty much every keeper does it. When the keeper's about to whale it up the pitch, the ref's likely to be in the other half & the lino making a beeline for the HW line. No-one's going to be in a position to make that call & even if they were, it'd be feckin hard for them to be sure - which is what they'd have to be to give it. Can you imagine the aggro if they called it & the telly later proved the ref wrong?
Andy @ Allerton Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 How long is it til he is penalised for handling outside his area when taking a goal kick (from hands)? You could say that about most keepers Hardly ever given
Big G Superhero Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 Which is crazy. The opinion of Giles and Brady, that is. Can anyone remember him doing ANYTHING like that last season? Can anyone remember him doing ANYTHING like that this season? They're trying to make him into the new Barthez
Maldini Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 (edited) Which he's clearly not, he's a very aggressive keeper. For both incidents which they referred to in the broadcast tonight he made the right decision, it was his execution which let him down. He's the best keeper I've seen at Liverpool in the twenty-odd years I've been watching. I was just saying to my dad when they were having a go, how refreshing would it be for a pundit to go against the grain when people are slagging off a player and say "well no actually, he kept 33 clean sheets last season, he's a good keeper" That's what the RTE lads used to do, maybe they're believing their own hype and getting carried away with seeing their faces on billboards. Tonight's punditry was lazy. Edited September 13, 2006 by Maldini

Can anyone remember him doing ANYTHING like that this season? No I can't. No I can't. Although I think other teams are catching on to Reina being a bit suspect at shots from distance, at pace into the corners of the goal. Either catching him out of possie or taking advantage of lack of height. Athletically he makes up for height, but positioning I worry about at times. WH seem to have his number. But he is young, and will imrove and mature no doubt. Edited September 13, 2006 by AnfieldGrass
