So i'm out tonight with my friends and one lad introduces me to his mate. " This lad has been a Liverpool fan since as long as his dad and my dad can remember " So laddo is impressed and shows me an LFC shirt signed by the whole treble squad. It's authentic..i know what i'm looking at. He goes on to show me loads of memorabilia. I'm in awe.

" Have you got a fantasy football team this year ? "

" No " i say. " I was going to do an online one but couldn't be bothered "

" My Dreamteam is doing very well "

" What ? "

" My team is in The Sun...i'm near the top "

" Jesus f***ing wept...you're kidding, right ? "

" Are you one of those that don't buy it ? I was only 11 "

" Maybe, but you've got the net now....there's no excuse. "

" Maybe but is it really that bad ? "

Drink down and i'm outta there.

There is no excuse.

11?

My lads weren't even born and they will tell folk as I do.

What did you say after "is it really that bad?"

He might be in his late 20s but maybe he really is ignorant as to the extent of it's effect on liverpool supporters? What about his old man?

I don't buy The Sun and wouldn't either but behaving like that because somebody else does its ridiculous.

Went to the local Tesco & some bint is doing a promo for the rag - as I was walking past she asked me if I was interested in a free copy blah blah blah. Phukkity ***** was she sorry. In the end I had to apologise to her 'cause she was only about 20 & seemed oblivious to my rant.

If this happened in Liverpool then I somewhat understand, although been ignorant to some girl is still out of order, but if this happened somewhere away from Liverpool as someone else has suggested (Norn Iron?) then you are way out of order.

I am being thick here aren't I?? You are not saying that we should not stop buying the sun because others don't are you?

I just think its an overreaction thats all, what the lad did.

But people have been affected by things in different ways, so its each to their own.

Lad in the first post has no excuse and nor do you for that, Bootser. It's not everyone's issue and we can't expect it to be.

Wouldn't expect non-Liverpool fans to be berated for buying/selling the paper, but I think it is almost a duty to raise the issue with Liverpool fans who buy it. What they printed was an accuation against everyone of us, by association. For a Liverpool fan who is aware of the issue to buy that paper is incredibly insensitive.

Time elapsed makes no difference. There has never been an acceptable apology from them so if it is ok to buy it now then it was a waste of time ever having a boycott in the first place and we may as well have just shrugged our shoulders and let it go unchallenged.
