In the course of his interview with this newspaper on Tuesday, Guus Hiddink revealed that it was Roman Abramovich who approached him with the offer of the Russian manager's job, in a series of meetings also attended by the Chelsea chief executive. Perhaps we shouldn't read too much into this. After all, Peter's amazing gift for coincidental encounters saw him sitting down in two London restaurants with Rio Ferdinand on a single evening last March, and there was a time he could barely leave the house without bumping into Sven-Goran Eriksson or Ashley Cole.

An exceptionally well-written article with a lot I didn't know.

Hopefully we'll look back on this period in ten or twenty years the same way we look at the match-fixing that happened in the early 90's, an unfortunate incovenience. Unfortunately I think unless The Fa and FIFA get their act together we could be seeing the beginning of the end of football as we know it.

Even if none of these guys are dodgy, in most cases they're not in it for the love of the game, they're in it for the money. They're going to raise ticket prices and squeeze every last penny they can from the fans.

People criticise those who run our club for not securing investment while others have, but when you look at some of those who have put their money into clubs recently you can only think one thing, thank God for David Moores and Rick Parry.

I'm of the opinion you can't be in it entirely for the money or the politics of money and not be dodgy.

Agree about Moores and Parry - honest fish in a pool of pirahnas.
