A forthcoming hearing will decide on a transfer fee, but the rule suggests that Hearts would only receive the player's annual wage by way of compensation, not the £2m transfer fee they want.

 

A good principle I hope we'll be hearing a lot more of in coming years.

why didn't we do this with Neill? or arsenal with Gallas?

 

also, all it will mean is that clubs will re-negotiate 2 years before the contract is finishing. Which is what most clubs do anyway.

 

Players are greedy too, so why do that, when if they get transferred they get their contract paid up by the club. Its more money for them.
