Serko Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 (edited) If true it's a good job we've played west ham already season long loans according to sky HAMMERS TO LAND TEVEZ & MASCHERANOBy Graeme Bailey - Created on 31 Aug 2006 West Ham United are set to pull off a major coup by the signing Argentine stars Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano, skysports.com can reveal. Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United were all thought to be competing for the duo, along with some of the continents elite including Bayern Munich and Milan. However, The Hammers have struck a deal with Media Sports Investments (MSI) - who own the rights to the Corinthians pair. Portsmouth were also in line to broker a move, but it seems MSI have decided that a move to West Ham will best serve their prize assets. The deal is believed to be initially for a season-long loan for the duo - but it could become permanent if all parties are happy. The pair are both currently in England ahead of this weekend's Brazil versus Argentina clash at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium. A statement on Tevez's website claims a move is done for himself and Mascherano. "Carlitos Tevez and his former Corinthians team-mate, Javier Mascherano, has signed a contract to play with West Ham United of England," read the statement. http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=4...amp;+MASCHERANO Edited August 31, 2006 by Serko
smithdown Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 West Ham are offering a lower fee but a much bigger sell-on clause.

Benitez Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Yeah, I love it when west f***ing ham sign two of the best young players in the world and we sign lucas neill... triffic kinell! Dunno how to break this to you - but we have signed a few other players in recent months
Guest Prongsy Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 kinell! Dunno how to break this to you - but we have signed a few other players in recent months Not complaining at our own signings (unless we sign niell - then the sky will cave)... but these two players going to west ham is a hit for about 10 top clubs in europe... west blinking ham/
Benitez Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 well, they will be there 1 season, before Tevez fecs off to Chelsea for starters. It's a mad deal for sure, but I think it's pretty cool - probably cos we wheren't the teams sniffin' about 'em and it's gonna send Spurs and Arsenal fans potty
Guest Prongsy Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 nice that the mancs and russians didn't get them yet - that is for sure.

It's clearly a showcase for them, low risk yet their "owners" will get a big sell on fee later at low risk. West ham will get the player(s) for a year or so. All happy Except the number of loan deals going on suggests to me an even greater rise in player power. I can see a time when the big clubs have a few "journeymen" contracted and the big stars become free agents, playing (in the main) where it suits them. Schevchenko, if Figaro is to be believed, is at Chelsea not for the fame, fortune or glory, but for his kids education. How many players do we have out on loan?

's funny that anyone actually did believe that.
Rimbeux Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 This is dirty Guess which Sth American Football club owning 'company' have been close to buying West Ham in the past year?
Benitez Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 This is dirtyGuess which Sth American Football club owning 'company' have been close to buying West Ham in the past year? makes more sense then doesn't it. Isn't Abramovich 'allegedly' involved with MSI?
nvdm Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Mascherano is the answer to the Manc's midfield 'hole' in my opinion.
