Phil Neal played in the same league team as Ian Callaghan. now that takes us back to 1959/1960

 

now, did Ian Callaghan play in the same team as Billy Liddell? cos that would take us back even further, and only using 5 players to link us back to pre war

According to LFC History Ian Callaghan made his 1st team Debut 16 April 1960, Billy Liddell's last game for LFC was a 1-0 loss to Southampton at Anfield on 31 August 1960 so theres every chance they were in the same team.

Callaghan made his debut in place of Liddell - though of course they may have played together after that.

 

Cally certainly played with Ronnie Moran I'd think, so that would take us back to 1952.
