smithdown Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Mackems are winning a game of football against another team.
Bootle Buck Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 The media saying it was a Roy Keane inspired win. He met with the players yesterday and I am sure threatened the shet out of them.

I hope they do well
Owen1978 Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 I hope after keane takes over full control they go on an unprecedented losing streak all the way upto xmas where he gets the sack!
Guz Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 I like Quinn and would like him to do well to be honest. But wouldnt shed a tear if Keane lost his first 15 games in charge and got the boot.
Bootle Buck Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 I can't wait until his first fight with one of his own players, a ref, a steward, a policemen or Niall Quinn.
Guest Cardie Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Quinn has changed his tune from a few months back. He was asked if he thought Keane would make a good manager and said "I doubt it" now he's hired the f*****.
smithdown Posted August 28, 2006 Author Posted August 28, 2006 Just heard it said on th'radio that Keane will be the sixth highest paid manager in the country.
Murphman Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Keane v Robson, it would be like a cage match betwen Bush and Blair, you wouldn't want either to win but at least you'd have the satisfaction of knowing there's a chance one of them is going to get a good f*cking kicking.
Atticus Finch Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 growler said: how many ex scum are managers? It is the successful older players from their 90s generation getting manager jobs based on their playing careers. Same thing happened with a lot of ours of the 70s and 80s eg Brucie, McMahon, Barnes, Aldridge, Nicol, Neal, Dalglish, Keegan, Toshack, Lawrenson, etc. By no means were all those obvious choices as managers and some of them proved to be rather s*** at it too.

Maldini Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 They've done a few good deals today David Connolly £1.9m - he scored a lot of goals at that level, they were missing a 20 goal a year forward Liam Miller free - decent player, great signing for free Graham Kavanagh £500k - experience player, good leader, still good enough for the Premiership Stanlislav Varga (1.1m combined fee) - Better than whay they have, good in the air, experiences Ross Wallace (1.1m combined fee) - Been playing LB for Celtic but usually a winger, good prospect Dwight Yorke £200k - could go either way really
owenthomas Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 thought the Kavanagh and Connolly deals were excellent signings - you're right, Kavanagh's still good enough for the Premiership but he'll add an experience and authority to Sunderland that they'll need.. Connolly's goals should help them and take the pressure off Stead who looked a dead duck in the Premiership, his confidence shot to pieces.. haven't seen how he's performed for Sunderland so far this season mind.. Liam Miller should do alright there as well - this is probably more his level than United.. reckon Yorke will do alright to myself..
