Reina has been somewhat shaky so far. That is worrying. After last season, I thought we've got one of two top goalkeepers in the premiership. It doesn't look so good this season.

This is one of my favourite things about the internet, reading things like this. FFS, it's the second league game of the season, and you're saying "it doesn't look good this season". Reina was in exactly the right position when Zamora struck the ball, it was a freakishly lucky goal, period.

For the last half hour or so today, we had 5 players (Agger, Aurellio, Gonzales, Bellamy & Kuyt )who have had little or no competitive playing time with LFC. Might have been a bit much of us to expect to have been steamrolling a West Ham side who are practically unchanged from last season.

3 welcome points and another game under these guys belts. Onwards and upwards.

I don't think there's any real bad about today's performance. They're a side who will push hard for a top six finish and on another day we could have had five. We've got goals in us every game now and when we tighten up a little we'll be fine.

On Reina we've a goalkeeper who will always be that aggressive that things like mis-hit crosses will catch him out. Accept it because that's why he's as good as he is most of the time.

And exactly where, have I said that the goal was the only reason for my comments on Reina!? Moreover, I wasn't talking about today's match exclusively. We had 4 more official games before this one and his performances weren't as doubtless as last season in quite a few moments of those games.

Totally agree!

Might just be me, but I love the way Bellamy is always on at the officials, he's a real competitor. Thought he was excellent today too, never stopped working and was unlucky to not score a couple.

I like the look of Pennant, but he needs to have bit more belief in himself at times. There were plenty of occasions when he had space to run into and he'd slowed up and looked for a pass inside. When he does bomb forward and attacks the full back he's very effective.

Sack Reina.

That's not what I am here to say.

It is sad to be misunderstood over and over again

Reina won't be the first, and definately won't be the last keeper to read a cross wrong. It happens a few times every yaer in the Prem, a mis*** cross ends up in the net.

Exactly. Don't expect to see that opinion in the mainstream media though. Probably have every red top linking us with random keepers this week.

General patterns I have observed from our games so far.

The bad - we keep on going behind so often. In fact for 3 out of the 4 competitive games so far, we have gone conceded before the opposition.

The good - We can come from behind. Despite going 1-0 down in those 3 games we, have yet to lose.

A well rounded distribution of goals so far. 6 goals in 4 competitive games. 5 scorers already. Furthermore, Kuyt, Garcia and Gerrard who we can definitely expect goals from have yet to open their account. I even expect Aurelio to get a few from those free kicks.

The ugly - not being able to keep clean sheets.

I don't think Pepe has been shaky at all. His brilliant save late on against Haifa is one of the highlights of the season so far for me

He is an undoubted ASSET to our side. That sliced cross by Zamora woud've fooled any keeper

Wingers. Why did we get Gonzalez and Pennant this season? Well, to get more crosses to Crouch and company, of course. Then why we continue to force our way through the middle and use long balls from the defense to Crouch and Bellamy, instead of using Mark's and Jermaine's pace and ball skills?

Didn't actually think we hoofed it that much today

Sky. F**KING DISGRACE. Never thought I would hear a co-commentator that was worse than Andy Gray, but Tony Gale managed it. How biased was he,

he was a hammers player and is a fan

In what way?

Haifa (H) - no chance with the goal we conceded, great save late on.

Chelsea (Charity Shield) - no chance with the goal.

Sheff Utd (A) - no chance with the goal.

Haifa (A) - did well to get to the first shot that led to the goal, couldn't do anything else. Great save late on.

I don't think we came from behind to win in the prem last season so we must be getting better.

We didn't go behind very often.

I think Rafa broke the long standing record under Houllier of not winning after conceding the first at Fulham away in his first season. One of the statto's on here will be able to come up with the stats I'm sure.

We went in at half time a goal down against Man City in Rafa's first league home game. We won 2-1. First time we'd done that in ages if I remember correctly.

I assumed the poster was talking about doing it away. because i'm pretty sure we came from behind to beat Brum at anfield in houllier's last season

The half time part of the stat I'm half remembering is the crucial part. We hadn't come back from being behind at half time, home or away, in a fair while before that game.

The good:

Dirk Kuyt. Played amazing 40 minutes, unlucky not to score. Tried too hard perhaps. That injury time moment in the box - should've turned the other way and shot himself instead of looking for Gonzalez. Oh, well, it's a debut, he'll score his goals.

Jermaine Pennant defensive work. I am really impressed with the lad so far. All the talks about character problem are irrelevant right now.

Luis Garcia. Our role player once again put in some quality minutes. Amazing pass to Crouch. Gerrard's pass was good too, of course :)

Peter Crouch. Scored an important goal. Again. The more options we have upfront, the better. With all the respect, though, Kuyt should and must become a starting striker within a month.

Danel Agger. Great goal. Should give him some confidence after the injuries.

The bad:

Reina has been somewhat shaky so far. That is worrying. After last season, I thought we've got one of two top goalkeepers in the premiership. It doesn't look so good this season.

Fabio Aurelio as left defender. He may be good at going forward, but his defensive skills today were worrying. We need Riise and Warnock healthy as soon as possible.

Wingers. Why did we get Gonzalez and Pennant this season? Well, to get more crosses to Crouch and company, of course. Then why we continue to force our way through the middle and use long balls from the defense to Crouch and Bellamy, instead of using Mark's and Jermaine's pace and ball skills?

We miss Sissoko and Carragher. Badly.

Bellamy. Too much yelling at the referees. It won't help you change the ruling, but will take your concentration away for sure. Need to keep it cool out there.

The ugly:

Playing defensively for 25 minutes with a better player in every position against a club like WestHam, instead of going forward and getting a third. We were lucky not to have concieded a second.

Bottom line:

Improvement needed and no more injuries.

Congratulations on the first win, of course. Hey, one point more than Chelsea! ;)

Agreed thought he played OK, Garcia gave tha ball away too often
