Falconhoof Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 Fook, this lad was good. Best footballer i've ever seen. Imagine a midfield of Gerrard Alonso Sissoko Barnes.
Guest Dirk Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 Best footballer i've ever seen. Imagine a midfield of Gerrard Alonso Sissoko Barnes. I remember when his hamstrings kept going, I used to wish that he'd suddenly find his pace again. I was gutted for years that the Digger we knew was no longer. I'm too young to remember Dalglish as a player, so for me, Digger is the best player we've had. I was in awe of him because he would do things not many people could or would do.

Gerrard might be more influential but. for me, he's nowhere near as technically accomplished as Barnes was. Rush was a phenomenal goalscorer but again he didn't have the technical ability that Barnes had. I think Fowler is more technically gifted than Gerrard but Gerrard is a better player because of his influence. Edited August 25, 2006 by Dirk

So i never really saw him in full flow. Barnes though, in his prime, before his injuries was able to take on a team on his own, not just ocasionally but week in week out. His skill with the ball was as good as anyone around today but he also had incredible strength on the ball and balance to enable him to skip over challenges or shrug them off.
John am Rhein Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 Rush was a phenomenal goalscorer but again he didn't have the technical ability that Barnes had. Does it matter?
Guest Dirk Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 (edited) Does it matter? Anybody else see the irony in that question? If it doesn't matter why question it? Edited August 26, 2006 by Dirk
