I for one was expecting them to hop off of Middlesbrough tonight which would have put us under pressure to win the game at Stamford Bridge next month to stay in touch. As it stands now if we win our respective ties between now and that game they will be under serious pressure to win the game - could be a right kick in the nads for Mourinho and company if they were to find themselves a point behind us having played a game more by mid September because once the Red crushing machine kicks in to gear they are fooooked.

For me it's just a pity the mancs 6 out of 6 points and plus 7 goal difference has fecked up any enthusiasm for laughing at Chelsea. :(

The Mancs were always likely to clock up a goal difference and full points from their opening fixtures: Fulham (H), Charlton (A), Watford (A).

funny i thought that when we were going to play sheffield.;)

The mancs being on 6pts and a 7 goal difference isnt that big a deal

maybe the media will focus on them vs Chelsea and we can hang on their shoulder llike a long distance runner and come up with a sprint at the end

we do need to tighten up our defense though, we are conceding a goal a game not good for us

I'll give you another alternative.

Remember the days the league wasn't won by Christmas? The days when a team that lost less than six games would likely finish Champions? This is going back, oh, four years, so it may be a bit of a stretch ...

If Chelsea aren't invincible this season, if we can win our share of games against the big guys, this can be our season. I can't see United losing three games or less this season. I prefer to think of that season in the '80s when they won their first ten games and finished outside the top two :P

Middelsboro seem to be a bit of a boogy team for CSKA Chelsea...Teams have the chance to nick points off them just now while their defence is in such a dire disarray and Cech is out recovering from that back surgery..I am sure that will change once he is back in the team though..

Lets hope that our boys get back to winning ways this weekend against the Hammers and the Chavs drop points at Blackburn on Sunday..

Our start to the season I actually felt we would only get a draw with SU in our first game, as it was always going to be a tough game. So no suprise to me really..But I get the feeling it's begining to come together for us and a good run in the first half of the season is on the cards.

As regards the pretenders from the theatre of prawns- well they never look like dropping points with their opening games. But anyway give them a week or two up top and they will soon get a nose bleed from the pressure of being at a high altitude, causing them to take a sudden nose dive as we enter the second half of September...

The future is bright the future is RED 19 !!!... ;)

A downer, but you'd have taken it.

The Mancs look good, and are on a confidence role. That's my biggest fear. I don't think they have a good enough squad, but they still have Ferguson, and he's still the best at harnessing team spirit, and using confidence to keep a team going.

It would help if they quickly picked up some injuries, because their squad just doesn't look to have the depth to me.

agree. someone needs to cripple rooney. and ferguson is amazing at getting more from teams than the sum of their parts.

They have enough matchwinners in the team to win their fair share of games against crap teams, but they they'll lose quite a few as well against better teams.

I dont think we would have drawn with Crouch coming off the bench, and Pennant coming on when they were supposed to.

The injuries really did more damage in that game then people realise. Rafa was unable to change up the game when it was needed, which i beleive cost us 3 points.

I had never written united off, anyone with Rooney in thier squad has a chance. For some reason I don't think Arsenal will be up to it this year. First year in the new ground, weakish squad and I can't see them being strong on the road. We need to get our act together fast and start dominating sides the way United did last night. Went at Charlton from the first minute 'til last.

Think that if you pick a side where you will need subs to win you the game then you take a real chance. They can e useful, yes, but with our squad there's no excuse for not playing a first eleven which can win you it.

And yes, United got at and bullied Charlton all game. I do, however, think of last year's top division clubs Fulham and Charlton are most likely to go down.

Boro seem to love playing the top teams at home.

They have done well against us, Chelsea and United over recent years. Only Arsenal seem to have the knack of winning up there regularly of the top sides.

Nice the fixture list threw that one up early, hopefully it'll give other teams hope of getting points off them...

As Hansen said last night Chelsea will probably go on to win their next 25 games...

The result means nothing if we don't go out and batter West Ham. It's not even enough to win this season, we need to get our goal difference up too.

Like I said a little earlier, I see Chelsea having some bad results while there is weaknesses in their defence and with Cech out..Teams are going to be able to steal points from them..Boro showed last night if teams fight until th end they can get something out of a match with the Chavs....Boro never gave up and won...

Problem is too many teams hit the panic button when CSKA London score and revert to defending hoping to keep the score respectable...

You have to keep at them for 90mins and not let them control the pace of the game, that's when they get railled and make mistakes...The Chavs hate to be on the back foot and more often than not are unable to come from behind...They seem more compact when they take the lead and dictate the game...I can also see them dropping points again at Blackburn TBH..

Anyway who listens to pundits, especially Hanson...only 4 days ago they said Chelsea set the standards and throw down the marker...

Regarding our game against the Hammers, well we have a good record against them in the league..Done the double last year 2:0 home and 2:1 away...I see us beating them at home and away with the same results to be honest...Although I fully understand we have to start putting our chances away and getting some above avarege scorelines...... ;)

if arsenal sell Reyes and get Ribery and swap cole for Gallas plus cash that could completely change their team.

I actually hope that Cole stays at arsenal myself.

They won last night without Neville, Vidic, Heinze, Scholes and Rooney with Carrick only coming off the bench for the final 15 minutes.

Charlton was dreadful yesterday....

Plus, with the form they are in now, the Mancs will tear everyone....it's a strong start from them no doubt but whether it lasts is another matter entirely...

No Smith either. If they get Hargreaves then their squad looks very strong.

Yeah, where was Neville last night? Screwed up my fantasy football team no end.
