Andy @ Allerton Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 I was astonished by their tone and by their bias. They usually seem to have some sort of party line to 'support' English clubs in Europe. And yet the commentators spent most of their time trying to 'talk the ball into our net' - on many occasions they were saying "If they are going to score a goal, they need to do this, that or the other" and referring to the opposition again and again in this context. I'm surpised that LFC even let these b******s commentate on us at all - never mind let them invest in the club. f***ing manc t***s.
The Hitman Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 I thought I heard something along the lines of "YES!!!" when we scored,or maybe that was just me.
Guest redmilky Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 ummm? I think ITV are just s***, didnt really notice anything else.
Will Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 I didn't really think they were that bad at all - Pleat was being his usual tedious self, but they also praised us at various points, talking about our good width for one thing
ManxRed Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 Pleat was praising Crouch's hard work for most of the match wasn't he?
anny road Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 only pleats drivel and the bot about defending set peices wound me up apart from that they were fine
Andy @ Allerton Posted August 23, 2006 Author Posted August 23, 2006 I've seen it twice now; * They thought we were a 'one man team'* Made a point several times about 'how few' Liverpool fans travelled* Went on several times about how Haifa should score* Said we were lucky* Made out that our players were being 'underhand' in the Anfield game* Commented on fouls (Like Alonsos booking) saying he was late, when the replay showed that he actually got the ball first - they stayed strangely silent* Went on about Man U and Arsenal for no apparant reason
Rimbeux Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 Are there not stats that show we concede less goals from set pieces than near anyone. 'Dat Zonal Marking Again' nonsense really needs killing. Benitez is not thick, he wins things, he wouldn't use it if it didn't work
Guest Jodus Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 And how many times do we need to be told the Bocolli is a bit like Juninho?
Bailo Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 To be fair to Tyldesley, he corrected himself after saying Fabio's studs were up in a tackle.
anny road Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 meanwhile, back in reception class. youll fit in there
ManxRed Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 And how many times do we need to be told the Bocolli is a bit like Juninho? Apart from the fact that Juninho isn't a play-acting clunt, but I accept that this was the commentators' comparison, and not necessarily yours!
WillG Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 The barmaid at our local asked if we wanted the sound turned up for the game. I'd already seen David Pleat's mug pop up in the corner of the screen so I asked her to turn the music up a bit instead.
fyds Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 (edited) meanwhile, back in reception class. They were not bad and said we dominated, the Haifa players were lunging in, rolling over etc, Garcia worked like a pig, how good Agger was and so forth. Edited August 23, 2006 by fyds
Knox_Harrington Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 Thought they were fine and think Tyldsley is, while Wilson is ignored, the best in the business now almost by default.

Swipe Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 There was on glorious moment when Tyldesley was talking about Aurelio and Gonzales. He said something along the lines of "This is surely the first time in history that two south americans have been on the left flank for one of the worlds most famous clubs". to which Pleat replied "Yes. At one time Liverpool attracted the very best players from Scotland". he then seemed to realise he sounded like an idiot and trie to rectify it by saying "er, it just shows you what a global game it has become." It does indeed, David. It does indeed.

Pleat said ..."Liverpool have often played with a big centre-forward and this team is no exception. Benitez does like a big one up there." Edited August 23, 2006 by Red Flame
alext Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 I like Pleat, he amuses me like Big Ron used to. Tyldsley is constantly looking for digs in my opinion. Same as Andy Gray, I was shocked at his performance on Saturday. He got a lot of flak from Evertonians when he did his 'You Beauty' quote to that Gerrard goal, I think he is trying very hard to be loved by them again.
