owenthomas Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 (edited) ok, going against most other threads, i wanna know what concerns you have for the forthcomng season.. this is the strongest squad since '87, we've got the players to cope with any injury crisis, Chelsea will implode, Man U haven't got the necessary legs anymore and Arsenal have lost key players and look like they'll be relying on kids and eric's Magic 8 Ball says the league's ours for sure!.. i mean, even 2 out of 6 Indy journo's say we're gonna win the league.. but is it gonna be this 'easy'.. is it just a case of getting the players we've got this summer and then that's it, we've brought the title back home.. we're all getting carried away (and quite rightly, it's a new season and i personally am like this every season no matter what!) but there's still a lot of work to be done, is there not? Rafa wants us to stay calm and focussed but it's gonna be hard - very, very hard.. so what concerns do you have that will help you stay calm and focussed.. if any! anfield Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 This team will take time to gel. I think we shouldnt expect the title this season but the next
CarraLegend Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 Regarding the squad, my biggest concern would be Reina getting injured.
owenthomas Posted August 18, 2006 Author Posted August 18, 2006 we're only two other posts in so far and already i'm beginning to think this gooing against the grain lark was wrong!
Stevie H Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 pennant getting arrested and bellamy doing time for GBH.
cymrococh Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 I'm concerned we'll be so good that during our away game at Old Trafford (0-3) the team will be elevated to some kind of higher plain of existence and will actually cease to be as we understand it.
Leo No.8 Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 That we may do more dicking about with Gerrard in the hole and one up front. I don't ever want to see him played there again, the experiment worked a bit last year when we were short of strikers, but should now be dispensed with for good. Hopefully the signing of a fourth striker should mean my only serious concern is no more...
Raj Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 I'm don't have any concerns about the personnel or manager, but I do have concerns about our tough league programme until November. I think this period is crucial and will define our season, in terms of our challenge for the league. We have a number of players who have returned to pre-season late, as well as a whole host of new signings to assimilate into the 'liverpool way'. Normally this takes time, although this may not be so important depending on our rivals results throughout this period.
Rory Fitzgerald Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 Seriously, my main concern is the same as last season and this is the goal scoring. I know we have different personnel but at this is my (unfounded) concern. Its unfounded because I/we have yet to really see them play.
IgPig Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 The annual predictions that Hyypia's loss of pace and mobility becomes more of a hindrance, may finally come true. Obviously, we've got back up now but its very inexperienced.
MarkD Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 Gravy and Molby tell us all along that they new Parry was doing a good job and have always been fans. In a spate of shenanigans not seen in a long time, Mrs. Morgan appears at the AGM declaring her respect for David Moores and is elected onto the board. Our expected success makes us the new-Chelsea and even more 'celeb' fans appear, 'Sporty' Spice attemps to force herself onto Louis Garcia and in the melee his ruptured left thumb means he misses the entire season. We are so successful that we attract more envious glances from Madrid especially toward Alonso and Rafa and from Chelsea in respect of Gerrard and Rafa. Complacency kicks in and I wake up Sunday to 'Goals on sunday' with Warnock on the sofa telling the masses who he tactically outwitted Rafa!!!
Guest PaulMcC Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 I'm concerned about us not making a good start and leaving ourselves too many points behind to win the league. Our start is really tricky.
Stevie H Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 That Stevie H rates any of our players they're all sh*te. apart from salif diao.
RafaShanks Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 Winning every competition that we take part in.
Benitez Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 1. The team taking a while to gel and getting going, and with so many tough away games especially early on, that makes it double concerning 2. Trying to keep the players 'appy, cos we have a lot of quality players that simply won't be playing week in week out cos of the depth of the squad.
Molby Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 Injuries to Momo and Gerrard at the same time the time it may take, not so much for new players to gel but the different systems that we can playwe are actually in a position to realistically switch systems as well as/because of subs 2or 3 times in a game and in the end, I think that barring serious injury, this is what can win us the league Bellamy and Pennant getting into trouble Injury to Reina Haifa next week - can't wait to box that one off Lack of pace at the back - again we can cope by way of playing different styles but at a cost; but then opposing teams will probably target that as our only weakness so I'm sure Rafa has this in hand And of course Paul Caruso's concern is disconcerting; the key to solving this is to create the likely conditions that would precede the team's entry to this new dimension, thus opening a kind of gateway, and then all charge through it like in that film with James Spader where everyone had Earth Wind and Fire costumes on (name escapes me)
BigBird Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 I'm concerned about us not making a good start and leaving ourselves too many points behind to win the league. Our start is really tricky. Sheffield Utd away and the return match against M.Haifa. Alan Hanson?s frequent quip that you don?t want to play promoted teams early in the fixture list because they are high on excitement is a cause for concern. Sheffield Utd away will be a tough start. I thought M Haifa were a decent team at Anfield. Strong midfield and a lively attack. The return leg will be very difficult. Until we beat an unfit Chelsea last week our pre-season results and performances were uninspiring. My worry is that the wheels will come off before the end of August. Anyone got any Valium handy?
Florist Cinema Pond Goal Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 Anyone else concerned about an injury to Alonso? Zenden although a talented player hasn't much experience as a defensive midfielder. Would feel way more comfortable if Didi were still at the club.
Guest Scot Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 Anyone else concerned about an injury to Alonso? yeah. Knox.
ifanew Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 I'm concerned that Pele's Erectile problems will continue. Oh and that we got too many injuries.
Mr_Shane Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 Thay the entire suqad will come down with food poisoning before a crucial game
stressederic Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 Seriously my major concern is based largely upon a mental block I seem to have. I want us to win the league, I'm utterly desperate for it, and I think we have an excellent chance, but when I try to imagine it in my head I just can't see it. I don't know what being champions is going to look or be like, I can't properly invision it. Curse of growing up in the lean years really, but I just can't kind of see us clutching that Premiership trophy.

I thought the same, but I wouldn't have been able to imagine us winning the CL in August 04, but we did in may 05.
