You could take any of Gerrards quotes about England over the last 2-3 years and they are the exact same as anything that Owen has come out with. These players are proud of playing for Engand, and I don't see anything wrong with that. Very selective hearing by some people on this board. Owen is a Liverpool great and deserves respect, despite what some bitter people think.

I wasn't happy with the way he left without giving Rafa the time he deserved, but he's still a Liverpool legend. Great player who made bad choices and no doubt regrets them now.

 

Can't say I shed a tear when his knee went but still felt sorry for him.

Ignoring the fact ofcourse, that Gerrard went through an operation during the summer of '02 in process missing the World Cup 2002 so that he could start the next season for us...

Isn't it just like splitting up with a girl though. You really loved her, you thought you had something special together. However the last year of your relationship she didn't seem bothered any more. Despite constant reassurances her heart didn't seem to be in it. However she promises she will stay with you. All of a sudden she's dumped you for some flash spanish fella. Of course i'm going to be pleased when he treats her like s***. Leaves her at home prefering to go out with a fat Brazilian. When she comes back to England i say i'll take her back. She broke my heart but we were good together and we can put it all behind us. But no, she chooses a f***ing Geordie with no class but a fat wallet. So yes, i'll call her a cheating slag when she comes back to Liverpool and make her look silly. I'll make fun when her Geordie boyfriend doesn't turn out to be the man she thought. And i'll laugh my a*** off when it all goes wrong again. Especially as my real childhood sweetheart Robina has come back to me full of love. I know i'm beening childish, i know i should be mature and agree to be friends. But i'm not a big enough man. And besides this way is a lot more fun.
