I have thought of a way Sky can make more money!

What they could do is charge EXTRA for Andy and his mates and the default package would just feature crowd noise and no commentary.

I for one wouldn't pay for Andy.

Actually, if there were an enhanced package where you could pay NOT to listen to the c*** - I would plump for that.

I like what the beeb do where you can listen to fivelive instead of Motson's Rooney love in.

Occasionally on the Beeb an option comes up so you can just listen to the crowd and the match noise - it's excellent.

Really? Thats been something I've wanted to happen for ages - didn't realise it was an option. The only selection I see on interactive is to flick between the 5 live or normal commentary....how often does this happen? This is via a freeview box however..not sure if this makes a difference...

I've only seen it once or twice - it's on the digital (Red button bit) under the yellow audio section.

Really excellent it is. You hear the crowd and the ball being kicked about and that's it - pure bliss! You can concentrate on watching and enjoying the game without some t*** wittering on.

I did, for some time, listen to radio commentary while watching live footy...

Haven't done it for a while though and I'm beginning to wonder why? Much the better way to enjoy a game.

The only problem with that is it isn't synched with the action

Can you do it at the game though and switch off the pair of Richard Heads behind you?

Dunno about not being synched... I found radio commentaries much more informative and selective too as the commentator was trying hard to provide a word picture of what was happening. Much less drivel.

Of course, it depends on the commentator at the time... Some can be rather slow to respond as they check shirt numbers and names before speaking...

The Sky commentary is alright most of the time. Especially compared to the likes of the BBC and ITV.

I think the world cup coverage proved that.
