Guest Scot James Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 Didn't Owen have a column in the NOTW?
tomski Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 Didn't Owen have a column in the NOTW? true feck, that's a bad move.......
Guest snez1 Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 Didn't Owen have a column in the NOTW? Aparantly so. Thats even worse.
magneto Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 Owen asked the HJC for permission to have his column in the NOTW and was given the go-ahead.
Guest Scot James Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 So we can assume Gerrard has done the same? Why would he want to deal with them anyway? It's an awful paper.
tomski Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 Owen asked the HJC for permission to have his column in the NOTW and was given the go-ahead. one can only hope that something similiar was discussed in this instance.
Guest Scot James Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 He's been badly advised in any case. Needs his head checking having anything to do with that rag. Money isn't everything Stevie, lad.
RafaShanks Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 (edited) So we can assume Gerrard has done the same? Why would he want to deal with them anyway? It's an awful paper. Exactamundo. It's not as if he needs the feckin money. Edited August 12, 2006 by RafaShanks
Guest Jack Bauer Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 Badly advised? As far as I know the boycott doesn't extend to NotW.
Guest Scot James Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 (edited) Badly advised? As far as I know the boycott doesn't extend to NotW. Yes, badly advised. Why else would he want to do an exclusive in the NOTW, a smutty tabloid, with links to the S*n? Is he skint? It's hardly the best image for the player or club. Edited August 12, 2006 by Scot James
Guest snez1 Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 Even if he and his advisors feel the NOTW is distant enough from the Sun (imo its not), why f***ing do it anyway? The NOTW may not be boycotted officially (i'd never buy it and i know others who never would) but he must know in many many Liverpool fans minds it's simply the Sunday sun, so why f***ing chance it? It's going to piss off s*** loads of our fans and it's not like every other paper in England wouldn't have paid him a s*** load of money for the rights too. Greedy prick.
Guest Jack Bauer Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 He asked permission before going ahead with it, and if he didn't it's likely he assumed he could anyway since Owen had permission from the HJC/HFSG.
Ronnie Whelan Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 If the New of The World isnt boycotted then surely this is ok? I appreciate they are related and that its a piece of piss of a newspaper, but nothing insulting the HJC here, surely. What exclusives anyway? How close SG came to leaving the club he loves. 5/2 Exclusive on his feelings after Istanbul. 3/1 Some other random s*** that such a rag would use to manufacture headlines 2/1

psl Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 Bet it won't. Don't reckon it will either. I don't see a problem.

It's hardly the best image for the player or club. So what magazine/newspaper should he have gone to create a good image for the club? I dont think Time magazine or the FT would be too interested.

And in next week I'd go for either; 'My World Cup penalty heartbreak' or 'Where I really want to play for England' Or maybe something about how he's upset to miss out on the captaincy but Terry will do a great job.
Guest Jack Bauer Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 If you're going to have a go at Steve for releasing extracts to the NotW, then you're going to have to have a go at him for having Sky, since that has links to the S*n, owned by the same organisation and lines the pockets of Murdoch.
Guest Scot James Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 So what magazine/newspaper should he have gone to create a good image for the club? I dont think Time magazine or the FT would be too interested. Not the NOTW anyway. Can't believe people are so blase about this. If it was any other player I'm sure the knives would be out.
