f*** me, that was hard work, why cant we just turn up and put these teams to bed early. tonight we looked very nervy and rusty in places i thought, i dont know how it came across on the telly, but thought Riise had an awful game, infact, the entire back 4 were caught square far to often. the whole team seemed unbalanced for some reason.

plus points though, Pennant was outstanding, IMO far and aay the best player on the park. Sissoko was great too, but for a team with arguably the best midfield in Europe, we just didnt get going tonight. we should be dominating far more in midfield, when we moved the ball around quicky, Maccabi couldnt keep up, but in the middle, Sissoko aside, we just lacked urgency.

anyway, we won, but this tie is far from over, and i feel we will need to improve a lot over the next few weeks in order to hit the ground running in the Premiership, and hopefully finish off this tie with a bit of style in the second leg

and they were cheating c****

and the ref was a f***ing joke

aye, there was that.

did anyone spot the "Chickenpool" banner they had before the start of the game?

i expected us to hammer the b******s.. was stuck in upper cents right next to a lot of israelis.. momo was boss.. definitely silenced the booing c****..

im still unsure whether crouch is good enough.. he is just so static.. bellamy was great though and worked his socks off.. Riise looked short on confidence..

as for the diving c****.. i thought turks were bad but this lot took the biscuit..

cheers wayne. on the box we looked rusty, pre-season all over, particularly riise, sami, xabi and gerrard. new boys did well, momo was good, finnan was ok. need to be a deal sharper in the away leg. score first.

We should sign Neville to complete the best midfield EVER.

Hahahahahaha.

Yeah, I'm sure most teams in Europe would die for a midfield containing Zenden, Pennant, Kewell, Gonzalez, of course they would. Alonso and Gerrard, I agree, world class, the rest? Decent Premiership players.

Tell Chelsea that, Ballack, Lampard, Robben, Cole, Wright Phillips, Makele, Essien, yep you win, dead easy.

Sissoko could beat the entire Chelsea team on his own.

I'd say we should have the best central midfield in Europe, especially if Rafa figures out a way to use all three well.

You can't say the whole midfield in general though. Both Pennant (who I do rate) and Gonzalez have a long way to go before you can start claiming they're at Robben's level.

It'll be interesting to see who out of Robben, Pennant and Gonzales has the most assists come the end of the season.

our midfield is better because they are liverpool players who pull on the red shirt.. the shirt of the biggest the most successful club in Britain..

as for your opinions.. im glad you are enjoying it before a ball is kicked coz it will be downhill from there..
