DJ Richard attacked in a London pub

Former Blue Peter presenter Richard Bacon was left with black eyes and a broken nose after being beaten up in a pub.

The DJ was in the Garrick Pub on London's Charing Cross Road, where he was celebrating his first show back on XFM after returning from Capital FM, when two unknown men attacked him.

The thugs repeatedly kicked him in the face.

"The strangest thing of all was that, although I was kicked repeatedly in the face and body, it didn't hurt," he told The Sun.

"I think adrenalin must have kicked in."

Richard - who has also co-hosted The Big Breakfast, Top Of The Pops and ITV's This Morning - was taken to the University College Hospital in Euston but was back on the air on Tuesday.

"It's a serious matter but it's given me some good material," he joked.

"Each one of those punches was worth about 20 minutes of airtime."
