floyd the barber Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 so for years ive very rarely been able to find anything liverpool related in any of the "soccer" stores here in the states, all these stores would be filled with mancs, chelsea and arsenal gear.....with the most you can expect from liverpool..a badge. But it seems the Adidas effect is already taking place.. Went into the local "soccer store"......lots of these places all over the states, and found not only the brand new liverpool top...but new scarfs, dvds, banners, etc, etc I asked the guy behind the counter and he said that from ordering 25 new shirts through Adidas they also gave the extra items as a promotion and would continue to do so depending on sales of the shirt. I always liked Reeboks design of shirts, but in regardless to marketing and stocking their gear in the states, it was awful. So i picked up a brand new shirt for $50 yesterday!

Stew F Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 (edited) A similar offer (a mug and a scarf) was available for new shirts purchased here on the pre order scheme on the offal.Should be getting mine anytime Can't wait for the mug Oh and $50 !!I paid nearly £50 Edited August 9, 2006 by Veggie Kray

When Adidas launched the Reebok takeover, they were supposed to leave Reebok merchandise in the US alone. The reason; Reebok is larger in the USA than Adidas. This leads me to believe that either the club, or Reebok were not marketing our kit sufficiently in America.

Well its a weird one, cos you definetly see more comercials/billboard etc for Adidas in the states, yet because of the NFL it maybe makes sales of Reebok larger. Ie....Reeboks marketing in the states was based soley on the NFL...Reebok makes the shirts for the majority of teams. Edited August 9, 2006 by Winding Wheel
nvdm Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 US Marketing (of the kit) is entirely the manufacturer's responsibility, not the club's Thanks for clarifying that. It really is odd that Reebok would utterly ignore an emerging market like the USA and makes me even happier that we're back with the three stripes.
Paul_LFC Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 So the new top is available to buy in the States before it is in Liverpool. Bizarre.
nvdm Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 So the new top is available to buy in the States before it is in Liverpool. Bizarre. I got mine on Monday. The retailer I got it from said he'd had stock since the World Cup, but wasn't allowed to put it out on the shelves until the launch date (tomorrow). For the record, I paid R550 / 42 quid.
Guest Scot Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 Interesting this, thanks. I'll take a walk down to the sports shop after I think.
BDB Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 Reebok was the same when we had the cream top. They had them in the reebok store on Newbury Street in Boston. This is good news though.
Frosty Jack Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 I always liked Reeboks design of shirts, but in regardless to marketing and stocking their gear in the states, it was awful. Was like that worldwide, everywhere I've been, every contintent bar africa and antarctica, I had never seen a single genuine LFC shirt for sale outside the UK and Ireland. So the new top is available to buy in the States before it is in Liverpool. Bizarre. They have to make sure theres a big rush after tonights game so they can be unable to meet demand.

Woo-hoo!!! I'm of to the US next week so I'll buy my new shirt over there!!! That's about £27 given the current exchange rate...
Guest CincyReds Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 Reebok makes the shirts for the majority of teams. Actually Rebook have an exclusive deal with the league and make every NFL team's kit. In fact, players are not permitted to appear on behalf of the club wearing other sports gear. Remember Pires and Puma? Also, where in the states did you get the kit? Was it a national sports retailer like Dick's or just a small specialty store? Also what are you doing about printing? Peace.
Kite Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 On a related note, I was walking through a shopping mall in Dublin, Ireland (to give it its full American name) and saw sports shops with big Stevie Gerrard panels where the alarms go off and posters kitted out in the new shirt which isn't something I've ever noticed before in such places. Definitely got the impression of a step up in our market presence just from that alone

windy city red Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 Was like that worldwide, everywhere I've been, every contintent bar africa and antarctica, I had never seen a single genuine LFC shirt for sale outside the UK and Ireland. surely not? I bought my shirts from Singapore and I am pretty sure they are genuine.
Guest Jack Bauer Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 They have very good fakes in the far east.
windy city red Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 (edited) They have very good fakes in the far east. Are you saying mine are? But yeah, they do have excellent fakes around that region. But having lived there for the better part of my life, I think (or want to believe) I have a trained eye for such stuff, an alarm usually goes off in my head whenever I see something thats not right. BDB Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 I'm surprised at it being $50, as the adidas national kits are $65 from all retailers.
floyd the barber Posted August 9, 2006 Author Posted August 9, 2006 http://esoccerusa.com/store.htm thats the store i bought from, austin,tx ive done some reasearch and it seems these particular stores are only in austin,tx But im sure if a little shop like this has the shirts....than various other soccer stores across the states will have the shirts too. it was about $55 with tax....... and if you want to buy the shorts....they had both home and away..that will set you back $40!
nitski Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 I flew into San Jose last year with work and there was a big Reebok Soccer ad in the airport featuring.... BOLTON.
Martian Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 Please with us all the stores that you bought merchandise from and I'll post them at the other sites I subscribe to. Anyone bought the jersey in a store in the DC area?
