If either still gets a 3 match ban, they'd now miss Spurs game

Report's in the post, for sure

Rooney & Scholes free for opener

Wayne Rooney and Paul Scholes will be available for Manchester United's Premiership opener with Fulham, despite being sent off in a pre-season match.

The game was in Holland and the Dutch Football Association's report to its English counterparts was delayed in the post, so the duo can play on 20 August.

An FA spokesman told BBC Sport that the report had not arrived by close of business on Tuesday evening.

Any suspension would apply 14 days on from when the FA receive the report.

Rooney was dismissed for allegedly elbowing Pepe in the 3-1 win over Porto in Amsterdam while Scholes was sent off for two bookable offences.

The referee's report to the Dutch FA automatically triggers a letter to the FA, which would be duty bound to give both players a violent conduct charge.

If proved, that charge carries carried a three-match suspension.

Nope, the ref dismissed him (rightly or wrongly) for elbowing him, no need for that "allegedly". BBC in Fergie Fear Fiasco.

They were always going to get off one way or another, even Scholes. The FA would simply have had to have argued that the foreign ref failed to take into account the four free sliding challenges he's normally allowed in a game because of the fact that his inability to time tackles is an in-joke, a titterment.

Rooney was sent off for the hand in the opponents face = violent conduct, he never elbowed the bloke.

I hope the 3 match suspension is delayed a bit more so they miss the Arsenal & Spurs games

Don't worry, there's a lot more s**t coming rooney's way in the future. He's an inbreed.

Ah right. Doubly wrong, so.

They haven't been let off - the suspension is just going to kick in after the first game thats all.

I saw Rooney's sending off; wasn't much in it really, jumped with his arm out in front of him, very little contact. If a Liverpool player had been sent off for that in a friendly I'd be furious.

However as it was Rooney I of course wholly support the ban and agree with the referee's excellent decision.

The referee couldn't wait to send him off and supposedly laughed about it when asked later on. Trying to make a name for himself there. Not that I'm too bothered and hope he gets the full three game ban, even though he doesn't deserve it.

F*** the three match ban, I'm still disappointed the team bus never ran the fat Shrek c*** over.

If the red-card's for voilent conduct, you should get a 3-game ban. A season-long ban in Manc's cases. If it's for 2-yellows, generally they let it go.

Just because it's a pre-season friendly doesn't make you immune - imagine it went off a la that top Maradonna clip - at Barca? - where there were flying kicks, it was like something out of the karate kid

right decision. it was a friendly. Gerrard and Mellor were sent off at the same tournie 3 years ago and their ban wasnt carried over either

I agree

Dutch FA holding back on issuing letter, ban delayed and will more than likely mean they miss the game against Spurs, Spurs managed by a Dutch manager... It's clearly a conspiracy!!!
