Melodramatic nonsense I reckon

Posted

It was a big mistake for football that we did not beat them that day but it helped our future.

They got Abramovich and Mourinho (eventually) in and we ended up getting Rafa and No.5 when GH was sacked.

It was another year until Houllier was fired.

If we had won that match, I still think GH would have gone a year later, and been replaced by Rafa.

I know but if GH had qualified for the CL that year we may have not got Rafa at all..

It is all, if's, buts and maybes though.

True, but he did get the bullet after getting to the CL

The pimp would have just bought spurs instead and all the mercenaries would have just gone there. And Spurs have a history, so we wouldn't have been able to throw that at them.

Absolutely, I don't believe a word of that. I mean how does it work?

Instead of having to pay him his wages over a period of 4 years, they pay him all of it in one go, meaning a huge outlay for the club in the short term, and them having to replace Lampard with another player who they'd also have to pay.

What kind of financial genius would suggest that was a good idea? No wonder they were in crisis...

John Terry was about to sign for us when Abramovich took over

I wouldn't say "about to" but it weas very close to happening.

If Chelsea were to go into liquidation then they would have to pay the staff a maximum (i think) of £250 a week over the term of the contract. Any secured debts would take precidence anyway so staff would probably not get paid. The staff could claim that money from the govt though (i think), so Frank would be able to feed himself and his family.

Actually, probably only himself...

It would work by both sides sitting down and coming to an agreement where Lampard is allowed to go as a bosman, and negotiate himself a big signing on fee, and big salary elsewhere, at a club that wouldn't be playing with youth team players inside two seasons, and in return he'd waive most of the cash owed to him.

Leeds did similalr with the likes of Fowler, allowing/getting them to leave and go elsewhere, where both clubs will pay the player, Leeds return being reduced wags costs, paying a much reduced amount until the end of the contract.
