Just seen the Sheff Utd ticket details, only available to Season Ticket holders with 10 or 11 away credits from last season on their fancards.

Now don't get me wrong, I have no problem with ST holders getting priority over everyone for home games in every competition, they put their money down early. But why do they get priority for away games, and why does it matter how many you went to last season?

It makes a locked system of both home and away for anyone without a ST, even if they can get odd tickets from mates they can't get the credits on their fancard. I rely on the E-Season ballot for home tickets, so thought I could pick up away tickets a bit easier, but no. It's the same fans every season that get to see us, which in one sense I can understand but it also seems unfair to anyone trying to break into the matchgoing set.

Because like CL games, FA Cup games it's based on loyalty. Perfectly fair to me otherwise our games at Man Utd etc would be full of t***s who have no intention of going to any other game in the season.

It's a fair system although I am biased as I benefit from it but I dont see how else they can do it. You've just got be lucky to get a season ticket and then build your loyalty up, a few aways go on sale to fancard holders and a few always go down to one or two credits so it becomes pretty easy to build up.

Is there a case for the return of stubs?

Only difference that should be made is to bring in fancard loyalty for away games aswell. After ST sales it goes straight to general sale so unless you have a ST it's impossible to get on the ladder.

Of course Basil. If he made this mess he should tidy it up.

If you have the loyalty you deserve the tickets. The only problem as ever is that whoppers with no intention of going to games will buy tickets up to get their "loyalty" points. Not fair that, is it RP?

Would many people seriously buy tickets and then not go? Seems crazy to me, if you've got a ticket then it's easy to go!

Thinking more about it, what else can the club do? can't reset the "loyalty" clock every season really.

No what he means is in the context of stubs if you have the stub then you went to the match whoever bought the ticket. Therefore the loyalty has changed. What computerising it does is turn it much more efficiently into becoming a closed shop. As far as the club are concerned whoever bought the ticket went and has the credit. So you buy any ticket you can and shift it on for face but you have guaranteed yourself big game tickets.

People could always return the stubs to the purchaser of course but when I did a lot of aways I don't remember that happening very often.

That´s a bit naive isn´t it? Watch the ticket exchanges on all the forums when we play away midweek at Pompey, Sunderland or wherever. And Euro aways-don´t get me started. In Seville last year there were so many spares you could get one for free. People just sell the tickets on.

I can get tickets for most away games through my corporate season ticket, I get NO loyalty for them at all. So if you are willing to cover any extra charges (any booking fee or postage) then if you give me sufficient notice I can try to get a ticket to a game for you.

People are already doing it for Haifa at home on here.

Personally it suits me at the moment - I can't make many aways (not making enough f***ing homes at the minute) but know a fair few people who can get me a ticket for certain games. I'm fortunate. When I can make one I tend not to struggle.

However I wouldn't have made anywhere near as many aways as I did in treble season/second place season had the current system been in place.

Not getting any benefit though, as the Haifa home games doesn't give you any loyalty to CL group games, there's a notice on the offal.

Fair enough, didn't know that, would have assumed they would, but the point stands.

It's a strange one isn't it, always used to be the case with CL and UEFA Cup games I thought?

Loads of ST's cant get to alot of aways because of a plethora of reasons but they buy the tickets in the knowledge they can shift them to reliable fans who will use them themselves. They can then guarantee to qualify for the away games they can make (having built up the credits)- not always the games you would expect.

You can only work within the system that is in place at any given moment.

Have wondered that myself in the past. Don't see why fancards can't be used now to hold loyalty for away games. It's hard to go regularly away without a season ticket, unless you know people to get tickets off. Or get lucky on ticket exchanges.

There are always away games that go on sale to all STHs

Mine had no credits on 3-4 years ago and now has 17

Buy tickets for an away game that goes to all STHs and then you will start building up the loyalty

How many credits would that accrue in a season? ie gaining credits for the games that are the very least popular for the ST people...

probably get you nowhere!

What if you're not a STH nor have 10-11 loyalty points though?

I mean having them as equals. Obviously only STs have credits at the moment but after a while, with fancard holders slowly building theirs up with games like Villa and Blackburn, then the next year maybe get games that go to a few credits, then a few years down the line they'd have decent chances for plenty of games.

1 - tough; or make friends with STHs

2 - you build them up as I suggest

There are relatively few away tickets so the club has to restrict sales somehow. ST seems like a sensible way

:D

Anyway, I have very rarely bought a ticket with no intention at all of going to the game, maybe 4 or 5 times ever. Just for the record like. ;)

There's a simple answer to this folks...get a season ticket! I know there are some genuine reasons for people not having them but it seems a lot of non-season ticket holders are johnny-come-latelys in real terms compared to STHs. Think about it; the waiting list was only five years about five years ago so that means anyone who hasn't got one is a relatively "new" fan who's just got interested in recent years. I know there are financial reasons and people who've moved away/came back but to be honest, most of this animosity emanates from jealousy about STHs I think.
