I've hit the age where all my friends and their girlfriends are getting married. The other week my girlfriend and I went to yet another wedding. This one held in their own garden with 130 people, live-band, £10 a bottle wine and fine dining. Total cost of the wedding will exceed £14'000. Half of which is borrowed and will now have to be payed back to the bank in installments.

We've been to similar weddings and they're all church weddings with huge and expensive wedding dresses. Lots, lots, lots of people and expensive dining and the scene is kind of set, once we decide to get married..... well it would appear so because my girl wants a massive wedding as well - simply because "it's SO romantic and SO great and she rambles on".

My current problem is that I can't fvcking get into my thick scull, why it's supposed to be more romantic to get married and have 130 people coming round, compared to e.g. 60 people? Why would a wedding dress costing £2'500 from a tailor, make you more happy than a dress you can buy a any wedding shop for £5-600?

I've said to my girlfriend that I would love to go to e.g. the Seychelles for a month and have a nice beautiful wedding on the beach in the sunset - just for her and I.... but that's not a "real wedding" according to her.....?

I fvcking give up.... I'll NEVER understand stuff like this... :banghead:
