Sion Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 On a free! FREE! I would sell him, but only at a decent price, but on a FREE! why would we do that!
jfogarty Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 Would save us more than £6m over the next 2 years
Stew F Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 Christ.. If thats true were pushing being honorable into the realms of stupidity.Yes we got God back on a free - but ffs!!
tomski Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 Would save us more than £6m over the next 2 years Yes, but some of that will go on paying gonzo. How long has kewell got on his contract?
Guest Scot James Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 (edited) If it's true City will have paid off the remainder of his contract. Not a bad deal in that case, as any fee we got for Harry would have gone to paying off the rest of his contract anyway, and we get to free up a huge chunk of the wage bill. Boca Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 Is this the same Harry Kewell that just had his best season for us ? For free ? Lets just leave the left wing to two players who have never payed in English football before. One of whom is currently injured and the other who hasn't exactly set the world on fire in his pre-season games.
Guest Scot James Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 (edited) If we've got no money sacrifices have to be made. We're pretty well covered down the left, with Zenden, Riise and Warnock all able to play left mid too. If it meant we could get Kuyt, then I would have to say go for it. Gravy Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 This would be ludicous in the absolute extreme. Surely not even Parry would give him away. Would he??? We need Kewell. He looked real good last season.

If it meant we could get Kuyt, then I would have to say go for it. makes no sense tho, we're after quality. We've been down the route before, of being 'well set' but not having the quality. Riise is a left back and decent cover for midfield. Warnock is no more than cover. So we aren't 'well set' there if Kewell goes. Zenden is probably gonna play more centrally. Whats the point of us strengthening the squad (Gonzalez and Aurelio), only then to weaken it again by getting rid of good players.
sutty Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 This would be ludicous in the absolute extreme. Surely not even Parry would give him away. Would he??? We need Kewell. He looked real good last season. FFS man. I cannot believe you've mentioned Parry.
Sion Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 Can an article starting with 'Rumours are doing the rounds' be taken seriously?
Guest Scot James Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 (edited) I agree with you...but, I'm just saying if there's a position where we can afford to let a player go which will free up a huge chunk of the wage bill and allow Rafa to get Kuyt, then it's the left side. And Harry is the one on mega wages. It's a risk, but Rafa might feel it's one he can afford to take with so many options. It's probably nonsense anyway. Edited August 3, 2006 by Scot James
Alonso Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 Can an article starting with 'Rumours are doing the rounds' be taken seriously? Not to mention the last 2 sentences Whether he would be prepared to take a big drop in wages is another matter. That added with his continual injury problems may indeed make this a non-starter.
Maldini Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 It's a dodgy rumour from a dodgy site, I doubt there's any need to panic
sutty Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 It's a dodgy rumour from a dodgy site, I doubt there's any need to panic What about a reason to have a go at Rick Parry?
downunder Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 It's a dodgy rumour from a dodgy site, I doubt there's any need to panic Amazing what a difference a year makes, not many would have been panicing if we wre getting rid of him last summer would they?
McBain Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 What about a reason to have a go at Rick Parry? We need a reason now? When did the rules change
Buttles Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 Apparently they need a left sided player but don't want to pay more than £25,000 per week
Elisha_Scott Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 We're pretty well covered down the left, with Zenden, Riise and Warnock all able to play left mid too. And you think them 3 players are good enough for left midfield for us? Get real mate.
Gravy Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 FFS man. I cannot believe you've mentioned Parry. Parry. There you go.
Guest Scot Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 I'll say it again: won't be at all surprised if we shift him He is 25 this year. Not a kid anymore.Carra wasn't appreciated by some fans til he was 26, big difference. Bit of both to be honest, partly because he wasn't used right. As a centre-half he was always good, but he wasn't played too often at centre-back.
