My friend is 21, he's been going out with a girl for 6 months. They're engaged to be married in a year's time, and I'm the best man.

 

They've recently moved into my flat because his mother came over for his birthday and just refused to leave his flat. She disapproves of his taste in women. Apparently the girl is a 'malign influence'. He called the gardai when she wouldn't leave the flat, legally they should've helped him evict her, since he's the lease-holder and she's attempting to squat as well as drive out his fiancee. Instead one of the guards told him to "cop on" (a tremendous pun). His mother also recently informed him that she intends to do a creative writing course in Dublin, starting in September. She was also nice enough to let him know that she will be living with him during the academic year, whereas his future wife will not be living with him.

 

He stole his mother's spare key so she if she left the flat she couldn't get back in and then rang me. That was yesterday. Now I'm going to Swansea with him to get his bank book so his mother can't get it.
