Kahnee Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Has signed a one-year deal with Pompey. I'm guessing this is his last chance with a top flight club - apparently he only managed seven starts for Wigan this year. Still scored three goals, mind
Maldini Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 He's been very unlucky with injuries over the years.
owenthomas Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 i used to think he was a boss little player for us and thought he should've been given more of a chance than he got.. as has been said - he's been very unlucky with injuries..
Frosty Jack Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 I said it at the time, and repeatedly after he left and we persisted with Danny Murphy, that he was overall a more effective player than him, and should've been retained. He didn't get on with Houllier, Murphy did. Then again if he had only learned to keep his mouth shut, but as has been said, injuries are to blame for his decline, he had moments at Coventry and Blackburn. When he scored against us at Anfield and had his name chanted louder than most of that current squad it said it all.

charlie clown Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 I always thought Thompson was an over-rated plater that people showed a lot of loyalty to because he was a local lad. Decent players but not good enough for us.
Kahnee Posted August 1, 2006 Author Posted August 1, 2006 I always thought Thompson was an over-rated plater. What does a plater do?
