Chewie Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 starting to read more reports about Real and their intent to land Xabi...unfortunately when they go knocking at most clubs they get their man....anyone else worried that if they really start pushing the buttons they will eventually succeed. Xabi only said the other day that he is not thinking about Real 'now' which is fair enough but what about in a weeks time when they really step up the chase? Desperately Seeking Reassurance Chewie

cymrococh Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 you been asleep for a week? This story has been and gone since days ago. There are more reports.
Montse Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Really dont think the club have any intention of selling, its RM stirring
Benitez Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 There are more reports. which will be met with the exact same answers. Groundhog Day. May as well just sticky a post about it so we can go back to it every couple weeks.

Maldini Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 He obviously wants out Xabi"I snubbed Real to Kop Reds Title" and then the only reference to Real from Xabi is "I have heard nothing from Real" Classic Maddock
Buzz Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Though I am worried because of Reals weight in football, I thought Xai was a Catalan, so may not want to go there anyway and would prefer Barca?.
Kahnee Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Can't see him going anywhere for a while Though I am worried because of Reals weight in football, I thought Xai was a Catalan, so may not want to go there anyway and would prefer Barca?. He's Basque, or is that the same thing?
Chewie Posted July 28, 2006 Author Posted July 28, 2006 The only reference to Real from Xabi is "I have heard nothing from Real" from the Sky Sports quote and as others have said there are new reports in addition to the reports and rumours that I heard and read about whilst wide awake for the last week or so... my point is more or less this, Real very rarely miss their man when they set their sights on him. Viera is one of the few and hopefully is the example for Xabi to follow...more often than not though when they turn up the heat other clubs get burned with the loss of their player...what about Xabi when he does hear something from Madrid...I hope the club will pull out all the stops to keep him...I can see Benitez appreciating the need to work within a budget for new signings but I don't think he would suffer lightly the loss of one his key players.... Still Desperately Seeking Assurance Chewie
Buzz Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Can't see him going anywhere for a whileHe's Basque, or is that the same thing? Not sure now, , bloke here is gonna check with his spanish girlfriend.
Guest Kev Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Xabi will stay at Liverpool as long as Rafa is there, and Rafa is here for the long haul. I'm not worried one iota.
Jimi Rojo Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 catalans are from the Barcelona areaXabi's a Basque. Is it Atletico Bilbao with a team made up entirely from Basque players? i.e. they choose to do it that way. Very proud, independent people the basques, but I don't buy this 'he wouldn't want to play for Madrid because he's a basque' stuff. There is a lot of talk here in Spain now, but I don't think they'll get him.........yet.
Maldini Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Not sure now, , bloke here is gonna check with his spanish girlfriend. He's Basque, but spent part of his childhood in Barcelona when his dad was playing for them. Basque and Catalan are different, although both see themselves as seperate states from the rest of Spain.
Kahnee Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 At the end of the day, if he goes he goes (I'll just strress again that I neither think he will or want him to, otherwise some berk will miss my point). Great as he is, one man doesn't make the team. We've lost great players in the past without any great loss on the pitch.

Franco tried to unify it all but they lost their independence or something. Anyways, she said a basque wouldn't normaly play for Real Madrid, as neither would a Catalan (Dunno who that leaves) but Athletico Bilboa will only sign and play basque players. Maybe thats why Real get loades of foreign players in, cause there is no-one left in spain to play for them!.
