Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 cheap at twice the price United have bid £10m for Carrick and do not wish to pay more than £12m but Spurs are expected to settle for a price around £17m which would weaken United in the transfer market.
Romario Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 Wouldn't it be wonderful if RVN leaves and they can't get a replacement! The amount of players turning up their noses at ManU this summer is amazing. Long may it continue.
andymac Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 cheap at twice the price do you think there is any chance either Utd will sign Diao instead of Carrick or Spurs will sign him to replace Carrick? No, me neither.
jimmylibel Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 do you think there is any chance either Utd will sign Diao instead of Carrick or Spurs will sign him to replace Carrick? No, me neither. But the club that Spurs get their replacement for Carrick from might be in for him? Always hold out hope.
Swagger Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 17m !!! Good player, but no way is he worth anywhere near 17m. Well, considering Taggart paid almost 30m for Veron and Rio each, thats hardly surprising ...
aka Dus Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 doesnt work hard enough nor is a good enough passer to be the answer.
Bigal Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 Manc lad next to me is going mental, he reckons they should bid for reo-coker
Leo No.8 Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 So United pass up Zokora at £6m, then offer Spurs £12m for Carrick. Long may Ferguson's reign continue...
Gilps Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 Manc lad next to me is going mental, he reckons they should bid for reo-coker God, I'd hate them to get Reo-Coker. Terrific player and far more the type they actually need.
Leo No.8 Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 God, I'd hate them to get Reo-Coker. Terrific player and far more the type they actually need. Reminds me very much of a young Paul Ince...
Knox_Harrington Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 Carrick with the right players around him would definitely improve them but probably not enough. They still need at least one other centre mid and arguably two wide players to fill out their squad.
Boca Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 Let's not forget that the Mancs are likely to have a nice wedge to spend once the Ronaldo and Horseface deals go through.I wouldn't start laughing at them just yet. They managed to finish above us last season with a s*** midfield and Carrick, while not outstanding, will certainly improve them in that area.
Bigal Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 God, I'd hate them to get Reo-Coker. Terrific player and far more the type they actually need. Lets hope Ferguson doesnt think so
Knox_Harrington Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 well I for one am worried.I don't know why. The right players around him and you are getting somewhere. Not getting Torres is great news for United because it means Ferguson has to focus on where he needs players, midfield. Saha, Rooney, Smith, Rossi and Solskjaer are five good options up front.
Jarg Armani Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 when exactly did ferguson forget what midfielders are? or has he been as unlucky as he claims?
Ostrich Man Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 more worried bout the cash that we'll splash on trying to get carrick....dont rate him that highly. plus the debt factor the seemingly unwillingness of world class players to sign for us...we all know football is cyclical and ive a bad feeling we'll curve on down for a while yet before it starts to improve again. ah well thats footy as you all well know.
fred milne Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 Saha, Rooney, Smith, Rossi and Solskjaer are five good options up front.Think they'd miss RVN's goals myself.
Barnesy_10 Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 The Guardian reporting that Spurs will replace Carrick with Nedved What is Fergie playing at? I love it!
Behind Enemy Lines Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 Manc lad next to me is going mental, he reckons they should bid for reo-coker 1. Move2. He's probably right3. never admit to him being right
aka Dus Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 when exactly did ferguson forget what midfielders are? or has he been as unlucky as he claims? The tool doesnt even know the ones he has now. Going on about one the young midfield lads there, Darron Gibson the other day. Saying he would play for the Northern Ireland senior team within 12 months and he's a great prospect etc etc Except that Gibson has declared for Ireland and plays in midfield for the U-18s. Tool.
Behind Enemy Lines Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 Reminds me very much of a young Paul Ince...But with a smaller ego
MarkD Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 Carrick is an above average PL player who passes very well but lacks pace and presence to boss a midfield. With a Gattuso next to him he would be a good buy but..... If RvN does go, they lose their obvious goal poacher, whatver spin is put upon it, Ronaldo has checked out, Scholes/Giggs are about 100 years old, and he recently wasted money on players like Evra - will he Evra start a game? So what will he do? Buy a ceremonial, big name striker, move Smith back to midfield after moving him to forward then drop him, then start the season off with O'Shea/Ferdinand in midfield! To me, I look at their squad and would take only and in order - Heinze and Rooney. For the first time in a long time, they need more of our players than vice versa.
Stevie H Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 more worried bout the cash that we'll splash on trying to get carrick....dont rate him that highly. plus the debt factor the seemingly unwillingness of world class players to sign for us...we all know football is cyclical and ive a bad feeling we'll curve on down for a while yet before it starts to improve again. ah well thats footy as you all well know.http://football.guardian.co.uk/rumourmill/...1830551,00.html "Anyway, more speculation: after being snubbed by Fernando Torres, Patrick Vieira, Mahamadou Diarra, Michael Ballack, Genaro Gattuso, Jon Obi Mikel, Didier Zokora and Tomasz Kuszczack, Sir Alex Ferguson may now renew his interest in Tottenham's Jermain Defoe. Failing that, he might just visit his local branch of Asda in a bid to see if he can buy some groceries without getting rudely knocked back, just to keep his hand in."
