Paul_LFC Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 (edited) Tyler: Mellor, love cushioned header forrrrrr GERARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRDDDDD! Gray: OOOHHHHHHHH YAAAAAA BEAUTY, WHAT A HIT SON, WHAT. A. HIT. Tyler: Well you take a tap in in these circumstances and what you have seen is a Champions League strike as good as anything the competition has produced in this and many a season. Gray: Well you don't need me to explain it, just watch this! Let the pictures tell you everything. This is special. Have a look boys. Tyler: He didn't want to wake up tomorrow in the UEFA Cup. He was saying that yesterday. With one swing of his gifted right foot, STEVEN GERRARD SAYS CHAMPIONS LEAGUE KNOCKOUT STAGE HERE WE COME! (followed by pictures of the steward hugging Rafa) I was there that night and it was bloody amazing and just watching over this video again, this time on YouTube, makes you realise how brilliant a piece of commentary it was from Tyler and Gray and they really did this great game justice. Tyler's last few words are top class. What a match. Video Edited July 22, 2006 by Paul_LFC
Spike Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 The difference in emotion between half time and full time was immense. That was the night you just knew that something special was going to happen in the CL after the game.
liverbird04 Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 Liverpool vs Chelsea UEFA C/L 04/05 entrance scene I have been looking for a clip of this for ages now.
Guest roger Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 Thanks for re-posting this. 8-12-04 was my sons 21st birthday. Ha Ha. The whole day was a cracker! Left the match and went to O'Neill's in the City Centre and got wrecked!
Spike Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 went to O'neils as well. There were a few Olympiakos fans in the corner and every time the goals, recorded on sky+ were replayed there were big cheers and the fella at the bar kept rewinding it, pausing and playing them again.
hagi_complex Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 Watched it in my gaff with me good mate Kev. Normally we'd have 6+ for CL games (we have our good luck seats at this stage), but the majority of the lads were on holiday, so it was only us two. We both knew we could do it - even when behind. Pongolle changed the game and we danced around like kids when Stevie struck the third. The night is clearer in my mind than Istanbul, where I was a gibbering wreck. It's nights like that that halt my disillusionment with the beautiful game.
RafaShanks Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 Don't forget Pongelle and Mellor. A trully magical night. I lost track of the number of times I called the ref a c*** in the 2nd half, who gave us feck all. We didn't need his help in the end.
M4TTA Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 my birthday that was, will never forget that day, a really really special day
Guest Anders Honoré Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 most dramatic game I have ever seen us play for me. I was jumping all over the place throughout the second half.

Guest Kev Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 I remember at half time some people around me were downhearted, but I said we'd do it. One of the biggest regrets of that night is not taking up the offer of betting on it.
Hector McDougal Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 Watched it in a dublin pub with a greek friend called Tony. He's an Olympiakos fan but was never that confident even after they scored. Once we got one back he predicted a colapse from his team. How right he was.
Guest Stephen King Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 (edited) Once again thank you very much Roger, we said before the game that it was going to be special. Edited July 23, 2006 by Stephen King

Guest Sabre Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 I was there, next to Dee and my best mate (who bought me the tickets for my birthday). Absolutely cracking night.
Guz Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 I love the way Rafa's explaining what looks like some kind of tactical analysis to Josemi at the final whistle
Guest Sabre Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 We've discussed this before - Rafa is explaining where he should stand on the podium when we win the thing
Guest Kev Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 Benitez said: blimey, Kev in 'Optimistic' shocker Sometimes I'm an optimistic pessimist
