madaboutlfc Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 5 european cups or shiny new stadium... tough choice
Benitez Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 Why do you say that? I live in London (for my sins ) and I find the Gooners to generally be the most reasonable of the footie fans down here. They seem pretty genuine to me.In my experience, the Spurs lot are the most annoying by far - moan, whine, moan, whine, whine! damn right, Spurs fans are an absolute nightmare, a deluded bunch!
Will Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 And no history.Ridiculous patronising tosh 13 League titles10 FA Cups2 League Cups1 ECWC1 Fairs Cup2 League Cups11 Charity Shields That's plenty of history - and a darn sight more than any other club outside the North West
John am Rhein Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 That's plenty of history - and a darn sight more than any other club outside the North West If your limiting it to clubs, then it's a darn sight more than any other club not on Anfield Road.

John am Rhein Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 in fairness, I think he was saying the Emirates has no history Got to start somewhere. By all accounts they've designed it with a lot of consideration to their history: nearby location, still at Arsenal tube station, got a clock end and the pitch has a similar camber.
Andy @ Allerton Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 Ridiculous patronising tosh 13 League titles10 FA Cups2 League Cups1 ECWC1 Fairs Cup2 League Cups11 Charity Shields That's plenty of history - and a darn sight more than any other club outside the North West Are you still drunk mate ?! I was talking about the Emirates Stadium - or are you saying that Arsenal have won 13 League titles, 10 FA Cups, 2 League Cups, 1 ECWC, 1 Fairs Cup, 2 League Cups, 11 Charity Shields in that Ground?! If so a) What drugs are you on and b) When did they manage that ?! Was there a magical gap year in the Premiership while the world cup was on? Are the Mancs up to 17 European cups as well?
Will Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 OK, didn't realise you were talking just about the stadium Obviously it has no history, as it is new.... I am not going to judge its "character" (surely a euphemism for history, anyway?) until I have been there - but it looked very impressive from the outside. I'm looking forward to a visit, but I shall miss Highbury as I thought that was a nice old place
Maldini Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 It looks class alright, like how the stands are so close to the pitch. Ours will look as good as that though.
liverbird04 Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 http://s6.invisionfree.com/The_Herd/index....14097&st=20 these arsenal fans are really impressed with their new stadium....well sort of.

anny road Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 i bet there'll be a few fans like that when we leave anfield and move to the plastic dome in stanley park me for one
Ombudsam Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 (edited) but those guys do not pretend to be big clubs do they pretend to be a big club. 'kin ell they're the genuine article Edited July 23, 2006 by sammya
Bailo Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 me for oneWill you still go? pretend yo be a big club. 'kin ell they're the genuine articleYou've got a lot of love for the a*** haven't you, Thierry?
liverbird04 Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 some pretty poignant comments on there. "Personally I thought that the stadium didnt represent Arsenal it was more like cardiff or a neutral ground there was no arsenal emblems or anything to do with us" " Nothing worse than seeing your football culture turn to disneyland. I've seen it at OT for many years" "I must admit i was buzzing all week, was proper looking forward to it, but left feeling more than a little disheartened. Don't get me wrong it's impressive from the outside but inside it's could be any ground in f***ing England. It's one big concrete jungle, i mean Highbury had character." "2 people next to me even left with 10 mins to go and didnt applaud dennis off the pitch at the end, what the f*** is that about" "The ground looks great from the outside and i'm sure every away fan that come here will be in awe and feel quite jealous. But to me it's just not Arsenal. There's just not that proper 'football' feel that Highbury had at all, it's just another concrate construction in order to take money from us. When I was walking along the bridge I thought it looked more like a shopping complex than a football ground!" the comments just go on and on.Make no mistake this is the future for the new anfield ,it will be no different ,no more special ,and no more distinctive. People are obsessed these days with how everything looks ,if it doesn't look good ,shiny and brand new then it must be s**** like.Even in the golf at hoylake loads of people complaining about the grass not being f***ing green ,so f***ing what ? I have loved the descriptions about wembley in particular the most overpriced stadium ,the epitome of what is wrong with football ,the f***** isn't even finished yet and they advertise it by saying how much leg room you have to sit down . basically sit down ,shut the f*** up and pay up is the motto.
anny road Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 Will you still go?You've got a lot of love for the a*** haven't you, Thierry? yes I'll still go......But I know it wont be the same and I dont understand how people who go to Anfield week in week out can just accept this as "progress".....too much of me has gone on for me to willingly accept moving from Anfield I speant day after day in the after match of Hillsborough, from 1st think in the morning until last thing at night, sat on the concrete terrace where me and my mate used to stand, trying to accept the fact that he was never coming back..... It took alot for me to acceot the old standing Kop was never coming back, never mind not playing there ever again.....
Ombudsam Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 And no history. it's just been fecking built. this thread's bizarre
Bailo Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 yes I'll still go......But I know it wont be the same and I dont understand how people who go to Anfield week in week out can just accept this as "progress".....too much of me has gone on for me to willingly accept moving from Anfield I speant day after day in the after match of Hillsborough, from 1st think in the morning until last thing at night, sat on the concrete terrace where me and my mate used to stand, trying to accept the fact that he was never coming back..... It took alot for me to acceot the old standing Kop was never coming back, never mind not playing there ever again.....Completely accept that, but you're lucky you can go to every match. A new place would enable me to have a chance at a season ticket and not fight for scraps. But the more I see the Reeboks, Emirates of this world, the more I wonder.....the only new place I like is the Allianz Arena. I worry from our plans the new place is a bit sterile.
Ombudsam Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 Will you still go?You've got a lot of love for the a*** haven't you, Thierry? As our rivals go they're the only ones I quite like. And yeah Henry is my favourite non liverpool player. If he played for us my love of him would be at dangerous levels yes I'll still go......But I know it wont be the same and I dont understand how people who go to Anfield week in week out can just accept this as "progress".....too much of me has gone on for me to willingly accept moving from Anfield I speant day after day in the after match of Hillsborough, from 1st think in the morning until last thing at night, sat on the concrete terrace where me and my mate used to stand, trying to accept the fact that he was never coming back.....
