Fran Mérida, `robbery' that has finished in the courts Once it turned the 16 years - past 4 of March, legal age to change of residence, to Fran Mérida it needed time to sign definitively its contract with the Liverpool, that already it had to him tied a long time ago. In fact, the player no longer appeared at the beginning of the season with the Barça alleging `personal reasons'.

Anyone have anything else, is he any good?

Isn't that the guy Arsenal have been trying to sign because they thought he was going to be better than Fabregas?

Not seen him, could be good could do a Barragan.

Nah, he's crap. All one foot but he can't decide which one. Can't head the ball. And his nickname's 'Franners'.

I remember reading this from the 'Readers Questions' section of Guillem Balague's SkySports column:

"Do you know much about Fran Merida, his current situation, and the (reported) likelihood of his joining Arsenal in the near future? I have seen various clips of him on the internet and he looks a fantastic prospect with some great skills. Daniel May

GUILLEM SAYS: People say he is a midfield playmaker in the Ronaldinho mould but I would say more a mixture of Lampard and Motta. Merida has been with Barcelona since he was 11. But Arsenal used a loophole to sign Fabregas in September 2003, and they ended up with the new pearl of Barca. Merida grew disillusioned with the lack of interest in his future and decided to stay away from training since August 11, citing 'personal reasons'. There are other special talents in the Barcelona camp, like Bojan Krikic for instance, so it is a shame they haven't done more to keep them."

Nice if we nicked him ahead of the a***!

Those comments on youtube stating he's going to arsenal are 1-4 months old btw.

Someone (Elisha?) was saying we were after that Krikic as well.

Balague said (in the interview with TLW) that Liverpool are not interested in Krkic, and the player (as well as his father) has insisted that he'll stay at Barcelona.

Yeah, theyve been after him for a couple of years

This article from June says he's signing with us

But then this one from today says he's been training with Arsenal

Just read the article saying he's signed for us, it also says Cesc left Barca for us, as the original poster (Liverpoolway) said on TLW it's probably just a case of a journo on the sherry.

Remember the "gems"

All youngsters don't make the grade after staring in junior tournaments

yet strangely lots of Arsenal's youngsters do...

Reports today are definitely saying we've signed him.

Who knows - the crazy Spanish media are always giving us plenty to chew on...

if i was a young player i'd be more tempted to go to arsenal or middlesbrough than any other club simply because i would be more likely to get competitive games there. our ressies don't seem to get the chance to step up because we don't play them. i really hope that will chance this season as i'd hate for us to start becoming a club that couldnt develop their own stars anymore
