Bald Devil Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 http://icliverpool.icnetwork.co.uk/0500liv...-name_page.html]Sucking up to the big boys (Daily Post)[/url] CRAIG Bellamy is eagerly anticipating the return of Liverpool's World Cup stars next week. The Welshman is convinced they can help him continue to create a good early impression after his debut goal at Wrexham on Saturday. Bellamy is particularly licking his lips at the prospect of teaming up with midfield duo Xabi Alonso and Steven Gerrard, who will return from their post-World Cup break following Saturday's next pre-season warm-up at Crewe. And after getting precious little change from Momo Sissoko when Blackburn lost twice to Liverpool in the Premiership, Bellamy already has some first-hand knowledge of the awesome unit that will be supplying him with the ammunition this season. "No disrespect to the players I've played with before because they've all helped me in my career, but this is just another level," said Bellamy. "Gerrard is one of the best midfielders in the world and as for Xabi Alonso, I've still to see a better passer. "He's an incredible player, he seems to have time on the ball and is never harassed. "Momo Sissoko was a player who I thought was awesome when I played against him last year. "They can do a hell of a lot for me but it's about what I do as well. "I've got to use my pace and intelligence to help them and they can be a massive help for me." Bellamy's infatuation with Liverpool seems to have taken on a new intensity since he joined them from Blackburn. His first chance to greet the supporters at the Racecourse on Saturday suggested that the fans are ready to reciprocate the adulation that Bellamy has already bestowed on the club. He has enthused about Anfield, former players, his new team-mates, ex-managers and the current coach, Rafael Benitez. Although fallings-out with previous managers have blighted Bellamy's career at other clubs, particularly Newcastle, when he has admiration for the men he plays under, like his former Welsh manager Mark Hughes at Blackburn last season, it brings the best out of him on the pitch. So being motivated to produce his top form for Benitez shouldn't be a problem. "As a fan from the outside I liked what he has done, and being involved I can see why he has done so well," Bellamy added. "I knew what to expect because I spoke to one or two people but he's surpassed all that. "I wouldn't want to give too much away but it's no coincidence why he's been successful just from what I've seen in the first week and a half. "It's a really good time to be involved with Liverpool."
Rich Gobey Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 STOP CALLING HIM f***ING BELLERS. what about 'Lammy - is that ok?
jimmylibel Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 STOP CALLING HIM f***ING BELLERS. Stevie, you always seem so angry these days
smokescreen Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 Fair play to Bellamy, he is doing all he can to show how happy he is to be here. This could well turn out to be the transfer coup of the summer...
whitewidow Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 Eh? "Bellers" sounds like one of those w*nky public school nicknames the Test Match Special team give themselves - Blowers, Aggers etc etc In other words, it sounds sh*te. Sounds good to me - mind you I went to a public school. Cheers Desser.
DaveLFC Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 (edited) Every interview you read from him talks the talk, but can he produce the goods for us? I'm not so convinced and it will take a lot for me to warm to him. I've never liked him and he may have been given a red shirt by Rafa but now he has to go out there and earn it, not just talk about it. Fair enough he has not had that chance yet but here's what he could do that might win me over. Score a peach of a goal against the chavs in the community shield, lay one on for Robbie to score and then get involved in a tackle on terry that leaves him out for the season with a broken leg (terry not bellendamy) then headbutt ballsack in the chest (off camera) and get away with it. leaving the german captain with a broken sternum and out for a good part of the season. At the end of the game he should go over to Moanerinhio and slap him several times on the head with the shield before mooning the whole of the chav fans. On his return to Liverpool he should bring his signed match worn shirt to my house with a few crates of beer. Then and only then will I start to warm to him, until then he's a t*** in my eyes. Guest Ant Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 You Can Tell He Wants To Be Here. Nice Going Sheep Shagger
Red_Rob Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 He's saying all the rights things right now. A gobby Chelsea workmate has been going on about Shevchenko all month so I now have a £100 quid bet with him that Bellamy will outscore him next season.
Andy @ Allerton Posted July 21, 2006 Posted July 21, 2006 there's no better nickname for me than bellers. it's got the right feel. i think you're all still cautious of giving our taff affection. until someone comes up with all the others nicknames fall short. belly sounds like ian bell and that preppy type of image. bellers it is then How about 'Belly'
