Stevie H Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 we should put in a cheeky bid for gravesen. he'd be a good squad player and would go for next to feck all.

I think he would be a terrific buy and an ideal squad player for those tough away fixtures against some of the sides that tend not to want to play much football. It is noticeable that everton's form dropped when he left and they struggled for 12 months. He was their best player and wasted there though.

eljay Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 Just out of interest, how long did Xabi sign for? He's been here two years now and if he signed for the usual four we should be negotiating an extension imminently - haven't heard anything though. Just wondering like!
Sion Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 (edited) What good is it having the cash to buy Alves, Pennant and Kuyt if we've fecking sold one of, if not the best player at the fecking club! Edited July 20, 2006 by Sion

TO SEE FILE If Madrid dares to throw a pulse to him to the Liverpool by Xabi Alonso, it is going away to find with a very peculiar situation. Xabi arrived at the English club like a draftee of Benítez, but the soccer player no longer is of him. In spite of the initial doubts caused by a hopeful debut that did not disappear absolutely until later, Xabi has gained, without no type of discussion, to Anfield. ' Xabi is class' is often heard in the Equal Kop. if Xabi continued being ' solamenté a draftee of Benítez (as it were it Núñez, Josemi or even Morientes), it could enter quinielas of possible crossings because the Liverpool needs money to lay the foundations its doubtless progression. Rafa still looks for the opportune moment definitively to close the crossings of Dani Alvés and/or Pennant, and Dick Kuyt. And if they have still not taken shape it is by the lack of being able financier of the English set. Perhaps nevertheless, if somebody dares to pay, we take as example, 30 million euros by Xabi Alonso, Rafa thinks it. Can anyone translate that a bit better please, it's confusing the feck out of me? Just the main points.

----------------- I'm stuggling with this so missed bits out and it's probably all wrong, if anyone can correct me please do... If The Madrid dare to make Liverpool an offer for Xabi Alonso, they will find a very strange situation. Xabi arrived at the English club as an acquisition of Benítez............. Xabi has proved himself to Liverpool 'Xabi is class' is often heard on the Kop.....The transfer would be able to enter the realms of possibility because Liverpool need the money to found its doubtless progression.......Rafa still seeks to complete the transfers of Alves and/or Pennant, and Dirk Kuyt . Therefore, if someone dares to pay 30 million euro for Xabi Alonso, perhaps Rafa will accept.

nd Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 (edited) Xabi is a Basque and an honourable man. He's also partnering the best midfielder in the world, working underneath the best manager. He's given no indication whatsoever that he's unhappy at Liverpool, quite the contrary. If he leaves he will leave with Rafa, that's my guess. Not now though. I also don't think Rafa would sell him to fund further rebuilding. He fought tooth and nail to get him, and we all know why: because he's cocking brilliant, and a natural complement to our other cocking brilliant midfielder. Edited July 20, 2006 by nd
Guest baronvonskidmark Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 I don't think that Xabi will leave. He seems really settled here, apparently he doesn't even have any Spanish TV installed at his house, only English, and of course he knows we all love him, and that we are on the up. I remember reading in Marca around the time of the whole 'Rafa wants more cash' rumours that apparently Rafa also wanted assurances that his 'Untouchables' would not be sold - those being Reina, Carra, Stevie and Xabi.

Benitez Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 Offish Rafael Benitez has poured scorn on speculation that Xabi Alonso could be offloaded to Real Madrid. Reports emanating from Spain say that Liverpool's midfield maestro is now the number one transfer target of Real after they failed to prise Cesc Fabregas from Arsenal. But Benitez defiantly insists he has not intention of selling Alonso. "I read what is written in the Spanish press but I can categorically state that nothing is happening with Xabi. We do not want to sell him," he says.
