Wedding wear

Getting married next year and have been thinking about my attire. I don't want the whole morning suit thing, its just not me.

 

I was going to go with the dinner suit (hire) but have recently been thinking that i might go and buy a nice expensive suit, shirt, tie, shoes etc but am in two minds as to whether that will be too informal as its a church wedding. To do this i presume i'll need to go to somewhere like Armani and just ask them what they have for this kind of thing.

 

Has anyone else done it like this? Anyone got any advice? (people advising me to not get married needn't bother!)
