and like it or not, no Metallica, without them we wouldn't have the likes of Linkin Park and all that other nu-metal nonsense.

 

The only problem I have with that list is that for the most part, bar a couple of token appearances it only really recognises critically acclaimed music. Most of the music sold these days is pop and owes more to the motown system and is a way the music released by them than pretty much everything on that list.
