Guest sniffer Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Looks like we can forget it. Guillem Balague says Trezeguet will join Viera in going to Lyon while Ibramovich will go to Inter Milan.
Guest Prongsy Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 If rafa was in for him i presume he would have prefered to come here... who knows.
Toni Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 (edited) surprised arsenal arent in the race to get him. or are they? They need a player like him...He s best mates with henry....bergkamp has retired....he would jump at the chance to join arsenal....he s french. i would be absolutely made up if we signed trezeguet. A real 'fox in the box' and a goal machine. Edited July 14, 2006 by Toni

Sion Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Guillem Balague doesn't get half as much right as people think. He personally told me in April that Henry had had talks with Rijkaard and all that needed to be done was sign a contract. He can predict as much as he wants, but it's never that straightforward.

A real 'fox in the box' and a goal machine. Doesn't play well with Henry though, Henry has to adjust himself and play around Trez as the central focus, doesn't like it, and fades out of the game.
Hassony Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 still got 23 in 31 like.. f***en s****.. cisses scored 19 goals last season yet he is no wanted by rafa, just looking at goal stats is not always the best way to judge what a player can bring to a team
chrisbonnie Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Trezeguet is crap but somehow scores plenty of goals !!!! A bit like Cisse in that respect.Out of that lot - I'd prefer Kuyt, Defoe, Bent then Trez. id rather Bent myself, ive only seen Kuyt ina few dutch gams before the world cup, and then obviously the world cup, and i thought he was crap, Defoe we all know is just a smaller easy to understand Cisse, and Trezeguet, i wouldnt say no, and i wouldnt moan if we signed him, but he has been pretty s*** the last 2 years, he seems a lazy b*****d, but then again, he does score goals,
Guest 7777 Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Luca Toni anyone?Said it for a couple of weeks, Rafa has definitely been holding off until this verdict Toni or Trezuguet would do nicely
Guest 7777 Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Madrid bound i read today!Along with Horse head Which frees up Ronaldo
Guest flaps Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 http://soccernet.espn.go.com/players/stats...719&cc=5739 there's trezeguet's stats for the last few years, and people dont want him at the club he's not the most skillful/pacey/hard working forward but he is a prolific goalscorer at every level. His record stands up to any kind of scrutiny and is more then comparable to any serie a forward of recent vintage and maybe even the greats who have played there. Any player with a record like that in serie a, which is renowned for it's defensive play is a top class finisher. He's in a different league to the likes of kuyt/bent etc or anyone else we have been linked to. He's also proven at the highest level. There's obviously a risk that he may not adapt but thats a chance you have to take with every foreign player coming to the premiership. It's certainly a risk I would take. n.b the link is extremely tenuous and it's unlikely that he will come here.

I still wouldn't say no if the price was right and the desire (from him) was there though.
Guest flaps Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Trezeguet is also 30 next birthday, still got a few years left in the tank does not contribute to the overall play of the team much (which as we know is Rafa 'must') I dont think rafa would be too concerned about that and he could dovetail quite well with bellamy, maybe even crouch. and Serie A is not the incredibly defensive stalwart it once was. no but it's still universally recognised as the hardest of all leagues to score in.
Zoob Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 I can't work out which is more surprising: The fact that his goal scoring record is so good, or the fact that the stats - which I assume to be correct - show not a single assist in his last 5 seasons. I just don't think he's a Rafa type player, good finisher though he is.
Guest flaps Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 for me what this club needs is a predator, somebody to bang in at least 20 a season or so. There's no better man then trezeguet to perfom that task. We have other strikers to provide a bit of pace and that much sought after quality, holding the ball up..which i'm sure trezeguet could do. I dont think anyone would have thought bellamy was a rafa sort of player, then again who knows what rafa is thinking...anyway like I say, tis all pie in the sky. He'll probably end up at inter.
fyds Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 A)still got a few years left in the tankB)I dont think rafa would be too concerned about that and he could dovetail quite well with bellamy, maybe even crouch.C) no but it's still universally recognised as the hardest of all leagues to score in. A) I doubt that - in a faster more physical league where there are few successful strikers aged 30+. B) You're wrong there - it's not about dovetailing Rafa likes everyplayer on the pitch to get stuck in and do his share of the legwork - that's not trezeguet's style as Catinhat points out : 'not a single assist in his last 5 seasons' - and probably less tackles and tracking back. C) No it isn't. How many Italian clubs kept 20 cleans sheets in the league alone last year?
Maldini Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Don't know where this myth that Trezeguet is s*** came from, he's a class act. It's not like he's Inzaghi.
Guest miketyson Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 Luca Toni anyone? Would be a sensation in the Prem IMO , over 6 foot is a great finsher and lighting quick for his size.
fyds Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 Don't know where this myth that Trezeguet is s*** came from, he's a class act. It's not like he's Inzaghi. No he's not - though somehow that joker has been putting them away for years too. However, he ain't much of a 'team' man in the Rafa totality sense of the word and he's no spring chicken either. Just hypothesising, but given that Morientes, a high class player in the Rafa mould and much admired by him, great team worker, similar age to Trezeguet and scorer of goals both spectacular and simple failed to really get into his stride in his 18 months - a less hard working, occassionally knee-troubled Trezeguet....can't see it - could be wrong, but just can't see it for us unless he was 'stupid' cheap and looked at as a fairly short term solution. Even there, I don't know about anyone else but I reckon Rafa is is building rather than 'patching up' mode now.
