I wonder what happened with SWP

Posted

He'll have to make sure he doesn't sign a contract extension or he'll never get away ,how long has he got on his contract ? (he might have even signed an extension I don't know)

I think he signed for 3 years initially, so it would seems that he has signed an extenstion somewhere along the line.

Think the barcodes are mooting this morning they want SWP on loan which is never going to happen.

Its a shame to see so many players rotting on the bench. If it wasnt the fact they had been blinded by the wads of money on offer for both the selling club and player they would be getting regular first team footy instead of being a billionaires plaything.

He hasn't grown an inch literally and figuratively.

I see a personal fitness trainer a couple of times a week, he's a good oirish lad but a chealsea fan. This morning (whilst trying to give me a myocardial infarction :hmm: ) he told me that his cousin who is good mates with Duff, that Duff really wants to move to liverpool but auntie maureen won't let any players leave. I think there will be lots of unhappy players at the bridge.

Do we want or need him?

Do we (ie.. Rafa) want him? - Almost certainly not.

Do we need him? - We always need quality players, and Duff IS a quality player who can play on the Right.

Maybe Eskimo's reply (Gonzalez is better) is tongue in cheek. He could be, but let's be honest - we don't know that as a statement of fact.

Be honest - assuming he was available for say £7m, would you say No?

I know I wouldn't.

Duff has gone backwards since moving to Chelsea IMHO, don't get me wrong he is a good player (not a great player) but in the last couple of seasons he's failed to impress. As much as we slate their players its not as if he's playing for a s**** team so I would have expected him to kick on but he hasn't, maybe he needs a move who knows...

Agreed. He's a shadow of the player that he was at Blackburn. I don't believe for a second that he is entirely unhappy with the situation at Chelsea - my aunt met him on a flight from London to Dublin last month and he said he's expecting to sign a two year contract extension before the season begins.

The Duff ship has well and truly sailed...shame cos in two seasons he's gone from a really exciting attacking winger with an eye for goal to an insecure conservative shadow of himself. A product of the Mourinho acadamy - Essian's next for castration

Duff is one of a long line of players which will get longer who shouldn't have joined Chelsea.

More like they pay us £7m and carry on paying his massive wages then maybe. As it stands he's lost a bit of his pace and seems to be more concerned with trying to cut past a player and dive to get a free kick (Maybe due to losing a bit of pace, I dont know)

Hate to say it but the Translator has done his job well. Duff even plays for Ireland as he plays for Chelsea now. Even the diving.

He's had all the good 'coached' out of him

for what it's worth i don't think it's a case of mourinho not wanting players to leave, it's more a case of the the only clubs that could afford to buy decent players from the chavs are some of their fiercest rivals. no way would mourinho give opposition a hand in improving their playing squads. the only reason he signed SWP was to stop other premiership clubs like arsenal and ourselves from buying him.

Duff may not have set the world on fire since joining Chelsea but he is pure class... msybe we dont need him now that we have signed a few left sided players but he'd certainly improve us if he arrived.

He was great for them in the first 15-18 months, it's only since about October/November that his form has really suffered.

He's a far better player than Robben, but José has him playing a risk-free game.

Makes you wonder whether there would be a case for restriction of trade or something like that. i.e. a club vacuuming up all of the talent and then not releasing them if they want to leave. Surely we could have an upper limit on the size of a squad?

I know that they signed a contract and this brings the associated contractual issues, but they can be sorted - ask Didi.

Didnt want him then, certainly dont want him now. As an aside didnt Maureen once say if anyone wanted to leave he wouldnt stand in their way?? Seems he really has ditched that idea, no doubt fearing a mass exodus

i think it's pretty clear that all is not as well down the kings road as they would like you to think. i'm of the opinion that the chelsea players are becoming fed up with mourinho, no concrete evidence i just don't think that they can be that happy, and when you hear things like abrhamovic is the one who is pushing for the carlos deal then you begin to wonder if jose is having it all his own way on the transfer front.

if chelsea don't win the champions league this season then i think we can safely wave bye bye to mourinho once and for all! :D

as for duff...good player, but not that good. mark gonzales will prove to be better value and a fresher, younger and hungrier player for success in my opinion.

Don't think that's entirely right as we would like to think - but don't think it's entirely wrong either. With a probable glut of decent and very good quality Italians likely to be on the market, the disgruntled ones at Chelsea are going to find it twice as hard to move on - one because of competition from said players, and two because at least four likely clubs they could have gone too are bow either not shopping or somewhat less of an attractive option.

No and indeed No.

He had his chance and went for the ££££s

Sod him.

It was hardly his fault, we were never going to pay £17m for him

So why did he sign a contract with that clause after our interest was made public?

Regardless of whether he was right or wrong in doing that, it is clear it is his fault he never came to us, and there is no point crying about it now.
