johngibo YPC Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 They'd need Challenge Anneka to build a stadium in 2 weeks!
Albertini Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 So not at all a sensationalist piece with no hidden agenda whatsoever from the blue loving Daily Post.
owenthomas Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 i do not know anyone in favour of groundshare.. the lads i know, Reds and Blues, would go fkin crazy if that looked like the way it was heading - i'd imagine there'd be an uproar on a scale to have it cancelled..

Didn't Parry say words to the effect of "over my dead body" re: groundshare anyway?
owenthomas Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 I just can't see it either. Didn't Parry say words to the effect of "over my dead body" re: groundshare anyway?dunno abar that quote mate but i'd take that with a pinch of salt anyway - if that looks like the only way we can get the ground then he'd probably try and sell the idea to us.. the reaction after that is what i think would scupper the plans..
Serko Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 Phorum Dunce Posted Today, 09:21 I just can't see it either. Didn't Parry say words to the effect of "over my dead body" re: groundshare anyway? well it would be an alternative to sacking him.
Molby Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 I just can't see it either. Didn't Parry say words to the effect of "over my dead body" re: groundshare anyway? I think that was Moores saying 'move from Anfield over my dead body'
Cobs Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 Always thought it, always said it. Too many people outside of the two football clubs stand to lose too many backhanders if we don't groundshare. s'about the only thing i've shared in your pessimism with over the years, Kev. Joint press conference called, Parry & Kenwright 'we've tried every conceiveable alternative avenue and due to time, money and planning constraints the only viable option is for both clubs to groundshare, we understand the rivalries between the two clubs and how many fans will be opposed to this but a new stadium is imperative....." yadda, yadda, yadda.
Gravy Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 (edited) If the only two options to get a new stadium were to groundshare or have someone (relatively honourable) buy the club so we could build our own new stadium what would your choice be? Edited July 13, 2006 by Gravy
Guest Cardie Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 Isn't that really a choice of one? What would you prefer, a lottery win or having your b******s sawn off?
Knox_Harrington Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 Dependent on who the takerover is then obviously that.
Gomez Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 (edited) Get a new Chief Exec, or Sack Parry? Edited July 13, 2006 by Gomez
Serko Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 Sell naming rights, secure loan on future ticket sales, get someone else to build it and lease it for a fixed period, before it reverts back to the club. Convertible bonds. just some of the financing options available, the question is is the risk worth it?
DecidedByPoll Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 For what it's worth, I had a chat with Steve Broomhead last week and he said that Rick Parry had told him that he was confident of finding the money for the stadium. Whether we should have confidence in Rick Parry's confidence is altogether different. A friend of mine who works on alot of football based financing said not to expect anything imminently. He's pretty sure the blues will announce their stadium plans in Kirkby first (having Terry Leahy advising and supporting them is proving to be a huge boost to Everton) and then Liverpool City Council will get behind our stadium pretty quickly.

Confidence in Parry should be at an all time high He managed to get rid of Djib with a broken leg I'm selling my Parry shares before the Parry market plummets
fyds Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 (edited) Who is going to give you the lions share of 190 million without asking for something substantial - ie majority shareholding in the club - in return. Anyone who thinks otherwise is deluded. The only other way is by having it already (whoch we plainly haven't) or borrowing it which could be suicide. Therefore, surely it won't happen and what a waste of time it would have all been. QED.The plan wasn't predicated on an investor paying for a new stadium. The stadium was always designed to be paid for in the usual way of banks and investment houses by way of a 'mortgage' in effect. The desire for investment was about the longterm future of the club in keeping up with the Uniteds, Chelseas madrid etc of this world. Since the plan originally went public, new forms of sponsorship and naming rights have also appeared on the scene - that could prove highly beneficial for us in all this. Flo Lucas has been one of those councillors who doesn't want us to develop and as for Steve Broomhead and the NWDA - the only sources for this story, god help us all. Edited July 13, 2006 by fyds

Guest Kev Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 what's it got to do with the council at this point?? the article says that if we don't have the moula to build then it's almost certain of not going ahead - there's nothing to say that the money's coming from the Council?? it's LFC that have to put the money up to show they can finance it - the council doesn't even come into it.. "Club executives must prove they have the financial backing and a timetable for construction in place by a crucial meeting on July 27 or £9m of European funding will be withdrawn. It would almost certainly spell the end of the Stanley Park plans in the near future" It's the council that have stalled the developement at every opportunity in my book. This could have been sorted years ago if it wasn't for the infighting between the reds and blues on the council. Councillors, wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw Big Wayne.

They would be mad to plan anything around investment because investment on the terms parry and moores want ie give them £60-100 million and still allow parry and moores to run the club will never happen, no matter how big a name Liverpool are, no matter how many european cups or leagues they win.

Liverpool City Council is showing itself up on a fair few fronts at the moment. This is just one of them.
fyds Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 That's not how I read it. I remember interviews and comments from Parry about meeting JKraft etc for the financing of the stadium. HTW else are we going to raise 190 million.Parry talked to Kraft about how to finance the stadium based on his experience at Gilette, and used his corporate lawyers to investigate ways of doing it. The investment angle with Kraft was about a preffered takeover rather than the stadium. We raise the money (Only the post says £190m) in the usual way as explained - you go to financial institutions and effectively take out a structured loan/mortgage. You may offset this with increased sponsorship and naming rights.
fred Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 With a proposed total cost of £190m I fail to understand how missing out on a grant of £9m would spell the almost certain end of our stadium plans.
