Guest dcl Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 Whatever happens to night Id just like to say Zinedine Zidane is one of the greatest footballers Ive ever seen and it has been a pleasure to watch him. As Reds we acknowledge class and he has it in abundance
Wazz Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 He's also got a nice house in southport don't yer know...
Zoob Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 This will no doubt sound a bit crazy, but I don't think Zidane should have been sent off. If any of the officials had seen it, it would have been flagged, and a clear red straight away. From the amount of time it took, it seems fairly obvious that someone - most likely a FIFA official - spotted it on a tv replay and told one of the officials. Don't get me wrong, the offence was a clear red, but I think that video evidence was used on the sly, and that shouldn't be the case just because what Zidane did was particularly horrible or because it was the world cup final. Fifa have resisted using video evidence, but I'd wage a lot on them being involved in the officials being told what actually happened.

madaboutlfc Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 I hope Materrazi the c*** breaks his leg and dies a broke man... sonofabitch
George Costanza Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 Farewell to the greatest player of our generation and possibly of all time. Just a shame he didn't kill the wop b*****d
Zoob Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 On a scale of 1 to 10, how drunk are you? I'm completely sober, and I'm not saying this purely to take a bizarre position on the subject. As I said, what Zidane did was clearly a red card offence, it's just that it seems clear that he was only sent off because someone pointed out evidence based on TV replays. All the officials looked clueless until the directors of the TV channels started showing replays of what was going on, and presumably a FIFA official saw this, and told one of the match officials. In many, games, there are incidents which under the rules of the game warrent a red card (a really violent headbut to the chest maybe worse than stamping on a player, but both are red card offences). In other matches, such violent conduct is picked up by the tv cameras but missed by officials. In those games, officials don't take action after being told what has happened on the basis of video evidence, because FIFA decided not to use video evidence. Taking all emotion, magnitude of game, out of the issue, the rules of the game state that TV evidence is not used in games, so this game should be treated as any other. Hence, if video evidence was the basis of the sending off, surely Zidane should not have been sent off.

Guest Sabre Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 I tend to agree with Catinhat. I'm bitterly disappointed that a player that almost scored two goals today and has lifted a drab French team to the World Cup Final should be so stupid as to lose his rag like that in his last ever professional appearance. However, if video evidence was used then it goes against the rules. Sending Zidane off was the right decision but it is up to the officials to make this decision without the use of video evidence.

Guest Sabre Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 zidane was the c*** in the incident, materrazil did nothing wrong You know this because Zidane was the one who headbutted Matterrazi? How do you know what was said? I'm not saying Zidane was not in the wrong, but to say Matterrazi did nothing wrong is a bit odd.
