that was class.

Makes you remember why italians & football are such a good combo.

Can't beat the Rio Ferdinand 'jump on the back' celebreation

:applause:

5 out of 5, if a little contrived.

Don't think it was contrived...goal in the last min of ET in the WCSF? He must have known he'd just won the game. If that was me, my head would have exploded

Then he went and took the winning penalty! Some story indeed and a great pen considering the pressure.

Grosso is certainly one hell of a player, Inter will have two quality full-backs with him and Zanetti next season.

He gets forward so well I'd imagine Pleat has wet dreams about him...

Against both Germany and France I thought Grosso was outstanding.

I think Italy were so good this year because of their full backs. They always have great centre halves and an efficient midfield, but the difference with them this year was the attack minded full backs, both of whom were class.

Absolutely - him and Zambrotta were fantastic.

I think the thing to learn is that if you have a defensive midfielder of the quality of Gattuso, and are well organised enough, your full-backs can get forward pretty much at will.

Its about being positive and letting the opposition worry about you rather than the other way round. Grosso in particular played almost like a winger at times.

If their wide midfielder is tracking back with your attacking full-back, they aren't in a position to cause you problems at the other end...

Indeed. The best teams are always those that let the opposition worry about them, rather than the other way round, something any team, particularly England can learn from.

I think English teams in general always seem to be affraid to take the game to the opposition, including Liverpool at times. When they do though (Juventus at home, Roma at home, Arsenal at home) it works a treat.

French wingers were played out of the game for the most part last night due to the Italian full backs.

£4m plus a relatively unknown player Inter are paying Palermo for Grosso.

What a f*cking bargain - Palermo should have held out until after the World Cup, he's probably worth thrice that amount now...
